Sometimes all it takes is a caring family member to recognize that a visit from a furry friend might make all the difference in a loved one's day. Thankfully, a sweet daughter-in-law reached out and invited me to spend some one-on-one comfort dog time with her mother-in-law.

In her email to my team, she shared these touching words: "She has always had pets and misses having the contact and love of a dog. She says, 'I miss having something to love on.'"

Of course, I was happy to bring my golden fur, soft brown eyes, and all the love and companionship she needed. Sometimes all that's needed is a listening heart and a little unconditional love. ๐Ÿ’š

Today's Gospel reading reminds us that God is with us even in our grief. We may mourn the loss of a loved one, a difficult season of life, or the burdens we carry, but we do not grieve alone. Jesus assures us that God sees our sorrow and draws near to us with His comfort, strength, and peace. ๐Ÿ’š

"Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4

The nurses at JPS Health Network are truly amazing! One nurse encouraged my team and me to visit a particular patient, knowing how much a comfort dog visit might mean to her. As soon as we entered the room, we were greeted with shrieks of joyโ€”so much excitement that the nurse had to come back and make sure everything was okay!

My new friend was perfectly content to have me sit beside her while she gently petted me. Life may not always be easy for her, so before we left, we gave her an Olive stuffie as a reminder that God loves her, sees her, and is always with her. When we asked if we could pray with her, she quietly reached out a hand to each of us. It was a simple but powerful moment that touched our hearts.

Sometimes it takes a caring nurse to recognize when a little comfort can make a big difference. ๐Ÿ’š

Employee Appreciation Day took on quite a fun experience when Phoebe Comfort Dog, Pax Comfort Dog and I showed up to be part of their day. We were excited to be invited back to ESC Region 11. We visited in a huge storage room reserved for us. While we were there, staff came and went between a variety of planned activities. Someone worked very hard to come with so many great ideas to show the staff just how much they are appreciated. We were grateful to be a part of sharing relaxation skills, soft glances, and quiet presence. We look forward to returning for other events. Love, Olive

It might have been a close call, but we made it with a day and a half to spare! Phoebe Comfort Dog and I were invited to spend some special "de-stress and relax" time with the teachers at Wayside Middle School, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD before the school year came to an end.

With busy schedules on both sides, we finally found a time to get together just before the last day of schoolโ€”and judging by the smiles, hugs, and happy moments we shared, the timing couldn't have been better. After a year filled with hard work, dedication, and caring for their students, it was a joy to help these amazing educators take a well-deserved pause and soak up a little comfort and encouragement.

Sometimes the best way to finish a school year is with a furry friend, a few smiles, and a reminder that you are appreciated. Wishing everyone at Wayside Middle School a restful and refreshing summer! ๐Ÿ’š

When I visit some of my friends that are in assisted living or memory care homes, I often find that one of the things they miss most is a beloved pet. I love it when my team asks them to share a pet's name or a favorite memory. That gives me the opportunity to move in close, offer some quiet attention, and feel the love as they tell stories filled with happy memories.๐Ÿ’šLove, Olive

It can be tempting to say, do, or believe what we think will earn the approval of others. But as followers of Christ, our first concern should be pleasing God and remaining faithful to His Word. While the opinions of people may change, God's truth never does. ๐Ÿ’š

"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galations 6:10

It was our first visit to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound and Pax Comfort Dog and I were greeted with such a warm welcome! This special late-night visit was just for the incredible night shift team members who work tirelessly while most of the world sleeps. From NICU to Oncology and everywhere in between, we made our rounds sharing smiles, soft golden fur, and a few moments of comfort with the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff who care for others every single day.

We left with full hearts and grateful paws, already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you to all the night shift heroes who bring compassion, strength, and hope to every floor you serve! ๐Ÿ’š

I always love visiting the teachers and the participants at Goodwill North Central Texas S.T.A.R.S. program! There's always something fun, creative, and exciting going on. This time, the art teacher took a break to show me some of the beautiful projects the students created. I was very impressed! Of course, there was also plenty of time for hugs, pets, and sharing smiles. I can't wait to come back to see what everyone will be working on next! ๐Ÿ’š
