Classes have also been super busy!! From helping with landscaping for all classes, sophomores have been busy in animal science learning about Fluffy the bunny, and how to take care of her as well as taking our grooming lesson from Peavine and putting it to good use on a real dog ourselves, freshman class went on a field trip to the greenhouse to pick out plants for the landscaping and gave the school board and update on the landscaping project. 8th Graders have been finishing up lessons on the water cycle and water. 7th graders are prepping for their end of the year party with all that they have learned from their semester. Dual Credit classes are finishing up with Survey of the Animal Industry and Business Plans have been submitted by the Ag Selling class!! Busy finish to the year!!

We have been a little quiet on here since we have been so busy this month already!! From our Banquet to landscaping for the school and the YMCA to greenhouse work, and finishing out the contest year. Here is some pictures of our landscaping work and some of our labor auction donation hours being cashed in!!

Wednesday, May 6th is our FFA Year-end Banquet!! Meal starting at 5:30 PM. Banquet at 6 PM. Held at HTC Jr/Sr High School! We can’t wait to celebrate these amazing members and the year they have had! Come out and celebrate with us!!

Friday, at school brought out a lot of work on the greenhouse. The roof was completed and we started on side walls. We are getting closer and closer to completion. And bonus it weathered the storm that came through that night so we know the kids did a good job. They are learning valuable skills and hard work by jumping in to help when needed and how to build something.

The last 3 days we had 19 kids compete or get awards at State FFA Convention.

-Monday, 1st General Session, Cole Newton walked across the stage and was recognized for his 1st Place Finish in Division 1 Earth and Environmental Science for Agriscience Fair.

-Also, on Monday, Brant Mohrfeld, Jase Wilson, Gavin Pieper, and Brandon Mueller competed in Ag Biotechnology competition. The received a Bronze rating and one of our testers finished in the top 11 for test in that category.
-On Tuesday it was a busy day. We had Nate Box, Brock Scheetz, John Hummel compete in the Farm Business Management. They received a Silver Rating. One tester finished in top 40 and the others top 100 our of around 300 students.

-Poultry Evaluation consisted of Kylie Everett, Brody Boylan, Cooper Barnes and Elijah Fuerman. The received a bronze rating.

-2 Discovery Test takers, Presley Moeller and Cole Newton, 1 Greenhand Test taker, Kelly Mueller and 2 Chapter Test takers, Tanner Snaadt and Lily Newton. We are still waiting on results for that.

-We had 2 business delegates, Brayton VanNiewaal and Zikayla Houtz. They listened to speeches and voted on our new state officers.

-Gavin Pieper was recognized on stage for his 1st Place Division 1 in Power, Structural and Technical for Agriscience Fair in the 3rd General Session.

-Kat DiPrima was chosen for the Iowa FFA Choir and sang in the 3rd and 4th General sessions.

-Lastly we had 6 Iowa Degree recipients; Nate Box, Kat DiPrima, Ellie Hellman, John Hummel, Sydney Jarvis, and Brock Scheetz. We had a busy 3 days.

-A huge thank you to our 3 chaperones for the trip with help getting the kids where they needed to go for different contests. Jessica Moeller, Dusty Wilson and Jerry Mohrfeld.

THANK YOU!! To our community, family, friends and businesses!! We couldn't do it without you!! We had a great turnout for our labor auction! We raised money for the kids to be able to attend events and competitions for the next year and learn more about leadership, career and agriculture. Thank you to Brandon and Sarah Barnes and the Humburd's Auto Crew for cooking the meat and donating the supper for tonight!! Thank you to Terry Hoenig and Harry Hoenig for helping with the auctioneering from Hoenig Auctions!! From the bottom of my heart thank you for all you do for the kids!! They truly have a great support group from all of you!!

Some of the fun auction items we will have this Saturday, April 11th at St James Parish Center in St Paul! Free-will donation meal starts at 6, with auction starting at 6:30!! Can’t wait to see you there!

This Saturday, April 11th is our labor auction. Members need to be there at 5 PM to help set up! We start serving food at 6 PM and 6:30PM the auction starts. Please let Mrs Houtz know if you aren't going to be there. All members are to bring a desert. Also, don't forget about getting a donation for the auction. Let Mrs Houtz know if you have any questions or aren't going to be able to attend! Thank you!

Our Labor Auction is this Saturday at St. Paul. Can’t wait to see everyone!

Our Labor Auction will be Saturday, April 11th starting at 6 PM with the meal and Auction starting at 6:30 PM. You will be able to bid on 8 hours of work donated by members and other fun items.

HTC FFA had a great day at State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa. We had 16 kids competing in the State FFA Agriscience Fair.

Friday, we ended National FFA week with a Farmer Theme Dress Down and Ag Olympics assembly. 8th graders won the Ag Olympics with 7th grade coming in second. We did Farmer Dress Relay, Feed Bucket Carry, Feed Sack Race, Piggyback Barrels, Feedbag Carry, Roping a "Calf", and "Calf" Pull. Happy National FFA Week!!
