Sermon Title: “What Price Were You Paid for Salvation?”
Focus Scripture:
1 Corinthians 6:20 (KJV)
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
Supporting Scripture:
1 Peter 1:18–19 (KJV)
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold… But with the precious blood of Christ…”
Introduction
Everything valuable has a price tag. Homes have prices. Cars have prices. Jewelry has prices. But there is one thing that money could never purchase—your salvation.
Many people underestimate their worth because they forget what was paid for them. You were not purchased with silver, gold, riches, or earthly wealth. Heaven paid the highest price possible so that you could be redeemed.
The question today is: What price were you paid for salvation?
The answer is simple yet powerful: Jesus paid it all with His precious blood.
---
Point 1: Salvation Cost the Blood of Jesus
Scripture:
1 Peter 1:18–19 (KJV)
Jesus did not purchase us with temporary riches. He paid for our salvation with His blood on Calvary.
The blood represents sacrifice, suffering, and surrender.
At the cross:
- He was wounded for our transgressions.
- He was bruised for our iniquities.
- He carried the sins of the world.
Salvation was not cheap. It came with nails in His hands, a crown of thorns on His head, and blood flowing from His side.
Biblical Example: The Passover Lamb
In Exodus, the blood of the lamb protected Israel from death. Likewise, Jesus became the ultimate Lamb whose blood saves us eternally.
Lesson: If Heaven paid such a high price for you, stop living like you are worthless.
Key Phrase:
“You are too valuable to live beneath what Jesus died for.”
---
Point 2: Salvation Required a Great Sacrifice
Scripture:
John 3:16 (KJV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…”
Salvation cost Heaven something valuable.
God gave His only Son.
Jesus left glory to walk among sinners. He endured betrayal, rejection, humiliation, and suffering so that we could have eternal life.
The cross was painful, but love kept Him there.
When Jesus hung on the cross, He was saying:
«“You are worth dying for.”»
Biblical Example: Abraham and Isaac
God tested Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Isaac, but God Himself provided a ram. Years later, God provided Jesus as the sacrifice for humanity.
Lesson: Love always sacrifices.
Key Phrase:
“Your salvation was paid for with sacrifice, not convenience.”
---
Point 3: Since You Were Bought With a Price, Live Like You Belong to God
Scripture:
1 Corinthians 6:20 (KJV)
Because Christ paid for us, we no longer belong to ourselves.
We should:
- Walk differently
- Talk differently
- Worship differently
- Live differently
When you realize what was paid for your salvation, gratitude changes your lifestyle.
You stop treating grace casually.
You stop entertaining things that dishonor God because you understand:
“I belong to God because Jesus paid the price for me.”
Biblical Example: Paul’s Transformation
Paul went from persecuting Christians to preaching Christ because he understood the power of grace and redemption.
Lesson: People who understand the price of salvation live transformed lives.
Key Phrase:
“Don’t live cheap when you were purchased at a costly price.”
---
Conclusion
Church, salvation was expensive.
It cost:
- The suffering of Jesus
- The shedding of innocent blood
- The sacrifice of Heaven’s best
Yet Jesus willingly paid the price because He loved you.
The enemy may tell you that you are insignificant, broken, or forgotten, but remember:
You are valuable because of what was paid for you.
You were not bought with money.
You were not redeemed with silver and gold.
You were purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ.
So today ask yourself:
“Am I living like someone who understands the price paid for my salvation?”
Closing Scripture:
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Tell your neighbor:
“I know my worth—Jesus paid the price for me!”
