ARRESTED 100 TIMES WITHIN A YEAR
ALEXANDER DOWIE opened several large rooming houses called "Healing Homes." Here, the sick who had come for healing could find shelter and rest between the services held at Zion Tabernacle. Once there, they were able to receive constant ministry from the Word until their faith mounted to the place of complete manifestation. But the newspapers, mainly the Chicago Dispatch, were merciless, calling the homes "Lunatic Asylums" and continued to print every lie imaginable.

Because of these healing homes, Dowie's enemies thought they had found a vulnerable spot. So early in 1895, they arrested him on the charge of "practicing medicine without a license." Obviously untrue, Dowie would have been the last person to allow medicine into his homes He hired a brilliant attorney, but he only kept Dowie advised of the legal matters. So Dowie chose to represent himself in court because no one else could
articulate his call as accurately as himself.
Dowie's superior intellect was not enough to overrule the evil jurisdiction of the court.
Despite his profound arguments, the court fined him. But they never dreamed he would take the case to a higher court, costing much more money than the fines they had issued.
When he did, the higher court denounced the evil of the lower court, and reversed the decision.
The city hoped Dowie would get discouraged if they continued to arrest and fine him.
So before the year was over, he had been arrested one hundred times. Although severely persecuted, he was never discouraged. Persecution brought out great resiliency in his
character. He actually thrived on his persecutor's affliction and interrogation.
Evil will always try to persecute the power of God. But Dowie was super-naturally secure and anchored in bis godly authority. The supernatural never bows to the natural.

Never give up the work you do for God's ,in his own beautiful timing he makes all things beautiful.

DON’T KILL YOURSELF OVER MINISTRY SUCCESS

Why should you give yourself hypertension because of another man’s “success” in ministry?

What you are seeing is not always the full story.

Behind what you call success:
- Some have access to financial backing
- Some have access to loans
- Some have the means to project their image and amplify their voice
- Some build structures that attract crowds—but structures are not always substance

And many will never tell you what it costs them to maintain that image.

THE SIDE THEY DON’T SHOW YOU

Through my encounters with ministers and ministries under different circumstances, I have seen realities that are never preached on the altar.

I have seen:
- Ministers who took bank loans to start projects
- Projects that looked glorious at the beginning
- But later became burdens they could not sustain

And in some cases, it ended in embarrassment.

Not because they lacked vision—
But because the weight of the structure exceeded the strength of the foundation.

YOU CAN IMPRESS MEN NOT GOD

You can manipulate men.
You cannot manipulate God.

Crowds can be gathered by strategy.
But approval from heaven is not given by appearance.

A RARE VIRTUE: HONESTY IN MINISTRY

Pastor Tunde Bakare stands out in this regard.

He openly acknowledged:
- That loans were taken
- That the burden was real
- And that repayment was completed
Taken loans from five different banks! Huge.

Honesty speaks louder than image.

Big church often comes with big, unspoken pressures.

THE REALITY MANY WON’T TELL YOU

I know of a church in Lagos where immediately after Sunday service:

- A bank bullion van comes to take the offering
- Not because of surplus
- But because of debt obligations

Some pastors are not well paid.

Because the money goes first to service loans.

WHAT HAS CHANGED – A DIFFERENT DISPENSATION

We are in a different dispensation.

Today:
- Crusades are funded by borrowing
- Crowds are mobilized with logistics
- Attendance is sometimes arranged

But in the days of Peter and Paul:
People came from far distances because of power.

In the days of Apostle Ayo Babalola:
There was no artificial mobilization—yet multitudes gathered.

WHY?

Because power was present.

Let this be said clearly:

Some miracles today are arranged.

- Testimonies are rehearsed
- Scenes are staged
- Outcomes are predetermined

This is not the move of God.

This is performance.

You can arrange a miracle before men—
But you cannot arrange power before God.

WHAT WE HAVE TODAY

Today we see:
- Building competition
- Branding competition
- Visibility competition

But not power competition.

Many are louder
But not deeper.

Many are bigger
But not stronger.

WHAT IS LEFT…

Noise.

Noise without power.
Crowds without conviction.
Structure without substance.

FINAL WORD

Do not measure your ministry by another man’s structure.

Do not compete with what you do not understand.

A ministry built on pressure will collapse.
A ministry built on truth will stand.

I was in Cameroon in 1998 shortly after the death of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa when Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai visited the city of Yaounde. It was a three day miracle crusade.

I had been to his meetings in Nigeria only once before I traveled to Cameroon. This was going to be my second time witnessing the miraculous moves in his meetings.

Right there in Yaounde, in that particular meeting, ten known crippled men and women walked. There were cases of blind eyes and deaf ears opening. There were cases of various illnesses being cured. But there was something about this particular case of the crippled being healed —it was so swift. He was still speaking when their bones snapped back into place.
There were loud screams as these folks jumped out on their feet and started walking.

At that time in Yaounde, this was going to be the second Christian meeting that had such a profound impact after that of the late Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke.

What a legacy!

If there was a man who saw God, if there was a man who shook God's hand, if there was a man who had breakfast, lunch and dinner with God, that man was Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.

Blessed be the God of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai
Blessed be the memory of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai
Blessed be the seeds which he dropped upon the earth. They shall be mighty in the land.

Farewell God's servant, as you take a journey of no return to the yonder place where the lights are shining bright.

You lived sweetly and died happily, and so will everyone who loves our LORD Jesus Christ.

Rest on, we shall see again!!!
