More Than Words: From Who We Are to How We Live

There’s a lot happening at Journey at Christ Church, and we can’t wait to share it with you! Over the past six months, our Vision Team has been listening, dreaming, discerning, and planning for our future together. Building on what you shared at our last Community Conversation, we’ve been clarifying who we are, shaping a new mission statement, and exploring exciting possibilities for how we can grow in faith, deepen our relationships, and love our neighbors.

Join us for "More Than Words: From Who We Are to How We Live," a sermon series exploring our new mission statement: Sharing Life, Exploring Faith, and Loving Like Jesus. Together, we’ll unpack what each part means, celebrate the ways we’re already living it out, and discover how we can put our mission into action in new and meaningful ways. From strengthening relationships within our congregation to creating connections beyond our walls, launching new ministries, and exploring creative ways to support our future, there’s so much to look forward to!

Our mission is more than words on paper. It’s a vision for who God is calling us to be and how we’re being called to live together. Come discover what’s next for Journey at Christ as we move from who we are to how we live—and faithfully turn our words into action!

Our most recent meeting with families revealed that instead of a traditional program or curriculum, what our families actually want is for their kids to be known by the folks in our church community. They want us to meet them where they are… they want a church community where their kids belong. Isn’t that what we all want? To belong? Isn’t that what our inclusion statement is all about? So as a way of living more fully into who we are as Journey at Christ Church we are perpetual seeking ways for everyone to belong.

One way that we are going to be intentional about doing that is by using our village calendar posted out in the café. You are invited to write on the calendar where you will be throughout the week so we can join you. Please write your sports schedules, your music activities, your concert schedules, and anything else where you’d like us to come and join you. They say “it takes a village to raise a child,” well, it also takes a village to shape us and form us into Christ followers. So please stop by the calendar on a regular basis to both add where you will be throughout the week but also to find opportunities to support each other throughout the week.

Pastor Jen arrived in Kansas City last night and is attending The Leadership Institute at The Church of the Resurrection. This year’s theme is Momentum. Pray for her as she worships, as she learns, and by God’s Spirit, grows. God is building momentum within our church community and we pray for her as she and the leadership team lead us forward into our future together!
