Can physical sickness be caused by demons? "Yes," according to Scripture.

Frank and Ida Mae Hammond never claimed to have a healing ministry specifically. But as they saw demons leave people in their meetings, sometimes miracles of healing took place as a result.

Throughout the Gospels, the ministry of healing and deliverance took place at the same time. As crowds would gather, Jesus would take compassion on them, heal their sick and drive out demons all in the same ministry.

"When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick." Matt 8:16 (NIV)

Not all sickness is caused by demons. But in a number of instances, Jesus rebuked spirits of infirmity and bodies were healed. (See one powerful example in Luke 13:11-13)

The Hammonds note, in their latest book (compiled from their written and audio archives), that roughly one third of the healings ministered by Jesus involved the casting out of evil spirits. Some people Jesus ministered to were in need of purely a physical healing, while others required deliverance from harassing spirits, those hidden forces operating behind the scenes seeking to block wellness and physical restoration.
