Daily Verse Breakdown
In today’s world, we don’t realize the impact of a sacrifice. Sacrifices in Bible times were made to repent to the Lord and they were often the first crop, the first born or the fattest calf, and many other animals based on the sacrifice you were making to the Lord. In Genesis, Abraham is asked to sacrifice Issac. Abraham is promised to be the father of nations, his only legitimate son is then to be sacrificed. Then God stops Abraham from slaying Issac for the sacrifice, and provides a ram.
Sacrifices are no joke. But doing what is right and just are more pleasing to God than the sacrifices! Listening to your parents, not cursing at your enemy or even your friends, telling the truth, befriending the unlovable, standing up for those who can’t themselves, loving the orphans and the widows. You have been called to so much more. You! Yes, you! You have been called to be an earthly example of Christ’s love. You are a representation of Jesus Christ here in 2021, because you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, what’s stopping you from doing so? Christ laid down His life for you out of love, no one could ever love you like He does. Not only did He die for you, but three days later He defeated the grave and rose for us to know that He truly was the son of God. How do I know this isn’t fake? Because a secret isn’t kept long if more than 2 people know it, and Jesus rose in front of 500 people! There were so many accounts of Jesus’ resurrection, this is found in 1 Corinthians 15:6.
“After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.”
1 Corinthians 15:6
In my final thoughts on today’s verse, I think about another piece of scripture that helps us truly understand what we are called to do.
“No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8 NLT
