I drew my new profile picture and titled it “My Old Friend.”

I know that fallen human beings shouldn’t influence the relationship I have with Christ, but it is so hard to avoid that. The people that claim to love Christ have hurt me the most. And sadly, I have hurt others the same.

I knew so much about You Jesus, but I never knew how to truly love like You did.

I love and miss You my old friend, please keep showing me how to love like You did.

Hello friends! I have changed my “Adventures of a Catholic Missionary” page to share my Catholic deconstructing/reconstructing journey.

For the past 9 months, I have torn down my old assumptions of Catholicism and rebuilt new ones (in line with Catholic teaching) to better love like Christ.

It has been a long process of deep self examination and thought. I hope you enjoy and maybe learn something new from my conclusions.

Pax.

We are dust.

Here in Alaska, the ashes are being sprinkled in our hair so here is a throwback pic of last year at school. (I miss you Franny!!!!!)

Lent has always been weird for me. My whole life I feel like I’ve given up so much because I’ve chosen to follow Christ in such a loyal way. I’ve never been popular, never fit in, I was always made fun of, and I’ve always felt like an outcast because I was never scared to speak truth, and I am even dedicating my Collegiate studies to fight for His Church. When Lent came, I was always like “WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME???” How selfish of me to not pour out my entire life for the One that suffered and died for me.

This lent I was unsure of what to do. But as I go into this desert and contemplate my sins and what God wants from me, I realize that all He wants is for me to be closer to Him than I ever have before. He’s calling me to a life that I am scared of because total surrender to His will leaves me with the thought of uncertainty but I trust Him. I always have. Things ALWAYS work out for me.

Into the desert we go.

Last night our Missionary team gave the youth group a talk on Abortion.

I was asked to give a talk and I was hesitant at first because this topic is super sensitive to me and is painful. But as a missionary I am called to give testimony to my story and the healing I have received through Christ.

I was 17 years old, a senior in high school, when I encountered the pain of abortion in someone I loved for the first time. I had always been strongly pro-life but this experience showed me the painful reality and true sorrow.

Being able to share my full story as a Missionary now has been so healing for me and there is nothing that I am more passionate about.

Abortion is the top moral issue of our time. Educate yourself. Talk to your friends about it. Volunteer at your local pregnancy center. Uplift pregnant mothers. Comfort those who have lost a child. And pray hard for our unborn brothers and sisters in the womb.

St. Thomas More, pray for us.

325 A.D.
According to legend, the Virgin Mary appeared to a childless, wealthy Roman couple in a dream on a hot summer night. She told them she wanted a church to be built in her honor in Rome, and that the site that she had chosen for it would be covered with a blanket of snow. The same night, she appeared to Pope Liberius in a dream and also told him of her desire. The next morning, Rome awoke to snow on Esquiline Hill even though the weather was extremely warm. The summer snow was proclaimed a miracle and the couple took It as a sign to use their wealth to help build the church.

The devotion to Our Lady of the Snows was introduced to the Midwest in 1941 by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, primarily through the work of two Roman Catholic priests: Father Paul Schulte, known as the Flying Priest of the Arctic, and Father Edwin J. Guild, the founder and first director of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Father Schulte developed a deep personal devotion to Our Lady of the Snows while serving Eskimo missions in the Arctic.

Heavenly Father, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Arctic Snows, please bless my family with a shower of graces from your merciful heart. Give us strength to overcome our struggles and guide us to unite ourselves to one another in devotion to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your Holy Spirit, protect us against all difficulties we may encounter and urge us to live truthful, compassionate and faith-filled lives. May the love that binds us only grow stronger as we walk closer with you. Please help us to actively encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life within our homes. Grant me and my family forgiveness for any sins we have committed and help us to forgive each other. Lord please grant a return to the church and sacraments for any of my family who have drifted away. Amen.

Our Lady of the Arctic Snows, Pray for Us! ❄️

Thank you to everyone who has followed and liked my new page as I dive into this new journey as an Ad Gentes Missionary! “Ad Gentes” is Latin for “to the nations” and is the Second Vatican Council's decree on missionary activity.

I was called to this mission right before I left back to my sophomore year in College in Steubenville, OH. The first person I told about this mission was my Mama, and I remember her saying “you should do it,” and my Mama is never wrong. I worked extra hard the whole semester academically and at work to be able to serve the people in Fairbanks, Alaska. I will still be attending Franciscan University as a Theology and Catechetics major but as an online student.

I started packing today and I still don’t think it has fully hit me that I will be in a completely new place for 5 months. But everywhere that I have gone in my entire life, I have been taken care of so abundantly by Our Father. I have no doubt that Christ will supplement my every need while I teach His people in Alaska.

Please pray for me while I pray for you, as I prepare to minister to the Church in Alaska.
