The Book of Daniel
September 10, 2025
The Dark Side
We are going to see a glimpse into a realm we cannot see with our human eyes, but a realm that is very deadly. It is a realm Satan keeps hidden from most Christians, but something we all need to know about and have understanding.

Ephesians 6:12 (NASB95) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Our struggle is not against Antifa, the liberals, the alternate lifestyle people, or any other flesh acting out the scenarios happening on this earth. The crazy thing is, it has never been, nor will it ever be; but our struggle is against what we cannot see. The riots and murder we are seeing now is the stirring of the devil, and he has been planning this for a very long time. Yes, people are acting it out through their ignorance! Will I defend myself and family? Yes, I will take the life of those who seek to take mine if it comes my way.

Today, the Word of God will open up to us and show us something we need to take very seriously.

Daniel 10:1 (NASB95) In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar; and the message was true and one of great conflict, but he understood the message and had an understanding of the vision.

1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia…
This gives us a time line as to where Daniel was. The third year of Cyrus was 536 BC.

• Daniel 1:21 (NASB95) And Daniel continued until the first year of Cyrus the king.
What this tells us: Daniel was out of public office when chapter 10 begins. Daniel is an old man and retired when this next prophetic vision was given to him.

…and the message was true and one of great conflict, but he understood the message and had an understanding of the vision.

Daniel 10:2-3 (NASB95) In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed.
Daniel was fasting seeking some answer from God, and he had been doing it for 21 days. It does not say Daniel was doing a total fast of no food, for there are many types of fast a person can do.
What you do see here is that Daniel gave up his comfort.

Daniel 10:4-6 (NASB95) On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, while I was by the bank of the great river, that is, the Tigris, I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a certain man dressed in linen, whose waist was girded with a belt of pure gold of Uphaz. His body also was like beryl, his face had the appearance of lightning, his eyes were like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a tumult.
Is this a description of a man?
Daniel has seen the angel Gabriel twice before, but now he sees this being.
Some would say this is Jesus before the New Testament, but I think it could be Gabriel showing his true glory before Daniel.

Daniel 10:7 (NASB95) Now I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, while the men who were with me did not see the vision; nevertheless, a great dread fell on them, and they ran away to hide themselves.

Daniel was not praying alone here at the river; the others could not see this angel, yet they felt his presence and it freaked them out!

Daniel 10:8-9 (NASB95) So I was left alone and saw this great vision; yet no strength was left in me, for my natural color turned to a deathly pallor, and I retained no strength. But I heard the sound of his words; and as soon as I heard the sound of his words, I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.

I fell into a deep sleep on my face…

• Genesis 2:21 (NASB95) So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
• Genesis 15:12 (NASB95) Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, terror and great darkness fell upon him.
I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.
Is it possible our flesh cannot handle the spiritual world, or our soul is not capable for this kind of contact?

Daniel 10:10-11 (NASB95) Then behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. He said to me, "O Daniel, man of high esteem, understand the words that I am about to tell you and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you." And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling.
Maybe Daniel’s flesh is still in a deep sleep on the ground and his spirit man stood up trembling?

11 He said to me, "O Daniel, man of high esteem, understand the words that I am about to tell you and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you."
Again we find Daniel in prayer, and again we see God has dispatched a messenger with a word to Daniel.
This place is where the spiritual and natural meet, and it is very interesting indeed!

Daniel 10:12 (NASB95) Then he said to me, "Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words.
When did God dispatch the angel to give the word to Daniel?

…from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this…

What was Daniel seeking understanding for – on what subject?

• Daniel 8:27 (NASB95) Then I, Daniel, was exhausted and sick for days. Then I got up again and carried on the king's business; but I was astounded at the vision, and there was none to explain it.
I believe Daniel was “booggered up” over this vision and it would not leave him alone. Now that he is retired from public office, he stopped to give attention to this plaguing vision with fasting and prayer!

Daniel 10:13 (NASB95) "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
What is this angel saying?
Who is the prince of the kingdom of Persia?
Who is Michael, a chief prince?

• Ephesians 6:12 (NASB95) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
There is a war being waged right now right here for the souls of people, for the nation, and for the world!
The illuminati are as (used) toilet paper when compared to this battle!

13 "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days…
This prince is not human any more than the messenger telling Daniel about this war is. God is giving you a glimpse of the dark side that we never see, yet is very real and very much alive right now.

Following is a necessary bunny trail to help us understand the magnitude in which we are involved.
2 Kings 6:8-10 (NASB95) Now the king of Aram was warring against Israel; and he counseled with his servants saying, "In such and such a place shall be my camp." The man of God sent word to the king of Israel saying, "Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Arameans are coming down there." The king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God had told him; thus he warned him, so that he guarded himself there, more than once or twice.

These guys came to pick a fight, yet their battle plans are revealed to Israel time and time again.

2 Kings 6:11-12 (NASB95) Now the heart of the king of Aram was enraged over this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, "Will you tell me which of us is for the king of Israel?" One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."
Did Elisha wiretap the king’s bedroom?
How does Elisha know the plans of the king?

…tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.
We know: God, by His Spirit, is revealing this to Elisha and it thwarted the enemies’ plans.
What about our pillow talk, is someone besides the NSA listening?

2 Kings 6:13-14 (NASB95) So he said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and take him." And it was told him, saying, "Behold, he is in Dothan." He sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.
This physical army is no small number and surrounded a small town.

2 Kings 6:15 (NASB95) Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"
Was this man in a panic when he saw his enemy on the landscape?

2 Kings 6:16 (NASB95) So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
Isn’t this a silly answer to a man who is panicking for his life?
• 1 John 4:4 (NASB95) You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Who is in us?

2 Kings 6:17 (NASB95) Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
So whose horse and chariots are these?

2 Kings 6:18 (NASB95) When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, "Strike this people with blindness, I pray." So He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
Elisha captured the entire army without one casualty!
Do you see the battle lines aren’t of this earth, but only played out here on this earth?
There is a dark force forcing its will and way on humanity even as we speak.
But the individual has to make a choice between one or the other; there is never a fence rider – only casualties of this conflict.

I want to show you a glimpse of the dark one himself.
Ezekiel 28:1-2 (NASB95) The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, "Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Because your heart is lifted up and you have said, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas'; yet you are a man and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God—
Is God addressing a man in this passage?

Ezekiel 28:11-12 (NASB95) Again the word of the LORD came to me saying, "Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "You had the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty."
Is God addressing a man in this passage?

Ezekiel 28:13 (NASB95) "You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; the beryl, the onyx and the jasper; the lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; and the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, was in you. On the day that you were created they were prepared.
The stones listed here were often used to describe variances of light.
• 2 Corinthians 11:14 (NASB95) No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
Did you catch in that last sentence of Ez. 28:13 that this being is created?

Ezekiel 28:14-16 (NASB95) You were the anointed cherub who covers, and I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked in the midst of the stones of fire. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until unrighteousness was found in you. By the abundance of your trade you were internally filled with violence, and you sinned; therefore I have cast you as profane from the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

Is God addressing a man, or the being behind the man, in verses one and two of this chapter?

So who is really ruling the kingdom of Tyre?

In this next passage, God is addressing the king of Babylon well before there is a king of Babylon through the prophet Isaiah 739-681 BC.

Isaiah 14:9-11 (NASB95) Sheol from beneath is excited over you to meet you when you come; It arouses for you the spirits of the dead, all the leaders of the earth; it raises all the kings of the nations from their thrones. They will all respond and say to you, 'Even you have been made weak as we, you have become like us. 'Your pomp and the music of your harps have been brought down to Sheol; maggots are spread out as your bed beneath you and worms are your covering.'

Please read this again and take note:
how many spirits?
how many leaders?
how many kings?
how many nations?

The king of Babylon was never responsible for all of those who are in Sheol waiting judgment.
So who is God talking about?

Luke 4:5-8 (NASB95) And he (Satan) led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours." Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"

Notice Jesus did not dispute the fact that all these kingdoms belonged to Satan.

• Ephesians 2:1-2 (NASB95) And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
• 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NASB95) in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Whose eyes are blinded?

And Jesus says in John 12:31 (NASB95) "Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
Only in Jesus can we have the victory over this beast who seeks to take the life of humanity.

Can you see now there is far more going on around you each day than just life?

Daniel 10:13 (NASB95) "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
(We will talk about Michael when we cover chapter 12.)

Daniel 10:14 (NASB95) "Now I have come to give you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to the days yet future."
The understanding this angel is giving Daniel pertains to the Greek and Romans and our days still yet to come.

Daniel 10:15-17 (NASB95) When he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless. And behold, one who resembled a human being was touching my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke and said to him who was standing before me, "O my lord, as a result of the vision anguish has come upon me, and I have retained no strength. For how can such a servant of my lord talk with such as my lord? As for me, there remains just now no strength in me, nor has any breath been left in me."
Who is touching Daniel?
So angels can touch humans!
Was Daniel shaken from all this?

Daniel 10:18-19 (NASB95) Then this one with human appearance touched me again and strengthened me. He said, "O man of high esteem, do not be afraid. Peace be with you; take courage and be courageous!" Now as soon as he spoke to me, I received strength and said, "May my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

• Ephesians 6:10-11 (NASB95) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
How can we stand if we fear?
How can we stand if we have no understanding?

Daniel 10:20 (NASB95) Then he said, "Do you understand why I came to you? But I shall now return to fight against the prince of Persia; so I am going forth, and behold, the prince of Greece is about to come.

We know this angel and Michael are at war with the entities behind the men of Persia, but look at what this angel says, “and behold, the prince of Greece is about to come.”
Alexzander the Great will not show up in history for two more centuries – 200 years!

Daniel 10:21 (NASB95) However, I will tell you what is inscribed in the writing of truth. Yet there is no one who stands firmly with me against these forces except Michael your prince.

I will tell you what is inscribed in the writing of truth.

Daniel 9
70 Weeks
All through the book of Daniel we have been given glimpses of the future, from the time Daniel lived until a time yet to come. Today, we shall see a precision that can only come from God Who sits in eternity outside of our time and space!
Daniel 9:1 (NASB95) In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—
We should note that this event took place after Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den for praying to God. Daniel said an angel shut the mouths of the lions which declares that God found no fault in Daniel.
We now move to the Persian rule in history.
…who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—
Who made this man king?
Cyrus!
Daniel 9:2 (NASB95) in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.
What is Daniel studying and reading?
He is studying from the OT written to date in the books, and look at what book he is reading – Jeremiah.
What did Daniel determine from the book of Jeremiah?
 Jeremiah 29:10 (NASB95) For thus says the LORD, 'When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place.'
Note: this should validate the book of Jeremiah for you as well because Daniel took the book to be literal and precise. Many people view the Bible as: one big allegory, myths, rumors, and folklore!
Daniel 9:3 (NASB95) So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.
Why was Daniel seeking God by prayer, supplications, and fasting wearing sackcloth and ashes?
…for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.
Daniel is an old man now and knows the 70-year period is coming to a close. Also, Daniel knows that the God Who shut the mouths of lions is very accurate – and timely, but most of all, a covenant keeper!
Daniel 9:4-6 (NASB95) I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, "Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land."
Wow! Who is Daniel concerned with?
Daniel 9:7-14 (NASB95) "Righteousness belongs to You, O Lord, but to us open shame, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You. Open shame belongs to us, O Lord, to our kings, our princes and our fathers, because we have sinned against You. To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against Him; nor have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets. Indeed all Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has been poured out on us, along with the oath which is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against Him. Thus He has confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what was done to Jerusalem. As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth. Therefore the LORD has kept the calamity in store and brought it on us; for the LORD our God is righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice."
Daniel has read from the book of Moses and knows what God told Israel would happen if they disobeyed Him.
 Deuteronomy 27:26 (NASB95) 'Cursed is he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'
If you read chapters 27-28, you will see that Israel has suffered these curses because they did not confirm and obey the law given to them by God.
 John 8:31 (NASB95) So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;"
So if you do not continue in the Word, then what are you?
Daniel 9:14 Therefore the LORD has kept the calamity in store and brought it on us; for the LORD our God is righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice.
Daniel lived through the calamity of his people as many were slaughtered and torn from home and country, all because the people in general turned from God’s way and Word.
Do we as a nation or church obey God’s Word?
Can we be counted as disciples of Jesus?
"If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
Daniel 9:15-19 (NASB95) "And now, O Lord our God, who have brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and have made a name for Yourself, as it is this day—we have sinned, we have been wicked. O Lord, in accordance with all Your righteous acts, let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us. So now, our God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his supplications, and for Your sake, O Lord, let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary. O my God, incline Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we are not presenting our supplications before You on account of any merits of our own, but on account of Your great compassion. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Your own sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name."
Daniel knows the 70 years are up, but this is the prayer he prays for the nation and for the rulers confessing all of their sin and his.
Did Daniel count himself as righteous?
…for we are not presenting our supplications before You on account of any merits of our own, but on account of Your great compassion.
Did God count Daniel as righteous?
Daniel 9:20-21 (NASB95) Now while I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God in behalf of the holy mountain of my God, while I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously, came to me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering.
Daniel has a visitation while he is praying in the flesh in his room in Babylon, not a vision, but a face-to-face encounter with Gabriel.
…then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously…
 Daniel 8:16-17 (NASB95) And I heard the voice of a man between the banks of Ulai, and he called out and said, "Gabriel, give this man an understanding of the vision." So he came near to where I was standing, and when he came I was frightened and fell on my face; but he said to me, "Son of man, understand that the vision pertains to the time of the end."
WOW!
Daniel 9:22-23 (NASB95) He gave me instruction and talked with me and said, "O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding. At the beginning of your supplications the command was issued, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed; so give heed to the message and gain understanding of the vision."
When was Gabriel released to give Daniel insight and understanding?
As soon as he bowed his head in prayer!
God answers prayer!
Now come the most powerful verses in the Bible concerning the end times!
Daniel 9:24 (NASB95) Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.
70 weeks have been decreed for whose people?
Where is the holy city?
Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city
• “Shabuim” is the Hebrew word, meaning 7 periods of 7
• “Your people” is referring to the Jews
• “Decreed” means an eternal purpose of God foretold by God
1. to finish the transgression
2. to make an end of sin
3. to make atonement for iniquity
4. to bring in everlasting righteousness
5. to seal up vision and prophecy
6. to anoint the most holy place
Has this happened yet in the nation of Israel, or the world?
Old Testament (Tenach) Texts
• Original Hebrew (“Vorlage”)– In the days of Ezra and Nehemiah
• Septuagint Translation (LXX)– 285-270 BC, Ptolemy Philadelphus II commissioned 70 top scholars at Alexandria to translate the Hebrew Tenach (Old Testament) into the common Greek of that day
– Primary quoted text in the New Testament of the Old Testament was Greek.
– the Greek had been quoted for 300 years before the time of Jesus which means the book of Daniel was copied as well 300 years before Jesus.
• Masoretic Text (MT) – Derived from the Council of Jamnia, 90 AD was back to Hebrew
This information validates the verse we are about to unpack!
Daniel 9:25 (NASB95) So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.
Verse 25 covers 69 weeks of the 70 that Gabriel is talking about.
There is a specific period of time listed here, and we have the advantage of history giving us hind sight of 20/20.
When is the beginning of this time period?
…from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem…
Nehemiah 2:1 (NASB95) And it came about in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, that wine was before him, and I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence.
This verse dates the decree given to rebuild Jerusalem.
Gabriel is giving this information to Daniel in the year 538 BC.
Artaxerxes I was the fifth King of Kings of Persia, from 465 BC to 424 BC.
…in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes…
465 BC
+ 20 BC
445 BC So the trigger date for this prophecy has to be in 445 BC from a king making a decree.
Nehemiah 2:7-8 (NASB95) And I said to the king, "If it please the king, let letters be given me for the governors of the provinces beyond the River, that they may allow me to pass through until I come to Judah, and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress which is by the temple, for the wall of the city and for the house to which I will go." And the king granted them to me because the good hand of my God was on me.
History records 445 BC as the date in which the king signed these letters releasing Nehemiah to go rebuild Jerusalem.
Daniel 9:25 (NASB95) So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.
This period of time is triggered by a decree: until Messiah the Prince.
Who is this?
Now we know the weeks are in fact 7 year periods, meaning each week equals 7 years (or each day of the week, a year.)
…there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks…
7 weeks + 62 weeks = 69 weeks.
69 x 7 = 483 years
The book of Nehemiah tells you the story of rebuilding the city walls.
…it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.

1,993 years ago, this happened!
Luke 19:28-36 (NASB95) After He had said these things, He was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, saying, "Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a c**t tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' you shall say, 'The Lord has need of it.'" So those who were sent went away and found it just as He had told them. As they were untying the c**t, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying the c**t?" They said, "The Lord has need of it." They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the c**t and put Jesus on it. As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road.
This was to fulfill a prophecy spoken by Zachariah:
 Zechariah 9:9 (NASB95) Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a c**t, the foal of a donkey.
Can you see how precise Jesus was in fulfilling this prophecy?
Luke 19:37-38 (NASB95) As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, shouting: "BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"
The song they sing is one telling of the Messiah to come, and it comes from this Psalm:
 Psalm 118:22-29 (NASB95) The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner stone. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. O LORD, do save, we beseech YOU; O LORD, we beseech YOU, do send prosperity! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD; we have blessed you from the house of the LORD. The LORD is GOD, and HE has given us light; bind the festival sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. YOU are my GOD, and I give thanks to YOU; YOU are my GOD, I extol YOU. Give thanks to the LORD, for HE is good; for HIS lovingkindness is everlasting.
Luke 19:39-40 (NASB95) Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples." But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"
When the Pharisees saw what the crowd was doing, they became very upset and very disturbed because they knew this declaration was of the King the Messiah!
But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"
What comes next happened 483 years to the date of Artaxerxes Longimanus’ decree to rebuild Jerusalem, prophesied to Daniel in 538 BC!
Luke 19:41-44 (NASB95) When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."
A very sobering end to a 483-year prophecy as the Jews rejected Jesus and did not recognize the entry of the true King of kings!
…because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.
To the day this was fulfilled by God, and Jesus and is validated by history!
Daniel 9:26 (NASB95) Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
Gabriel said there was 70 weeks decreed but history has only 69 weeks recorded which means there is another 7 year period still looming unfulfilled.
Do you think God will fulfill it?
Verse 26 is the interval between verse 25 and 27 in time, and it unravels like this: "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing…
So this prophecy says the Messiah must be cut off. The Hebrew word for our “cut off” is: killed, executed, and so on.
So Jesus was rejected on Sunday, and hung on the cross four days later!
…and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.
Jesus spoke this over the city in Luke 19:43-44For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another
 Matthew 24:1-2 (NASB95) Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. And He said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down."
…and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.
Titus laid siege to the city and over a million Jews were killed, starved, and diseased. Finally, in 70 AD (38 years after Jesus spoke this on Palm Sunday) the city was sacked, and the Romans left no stone of the temple standing.
…and the people of the prince who is to come…
Gabriel is telling you here that Titus was a prince, but it was the people who destroyed the city and temple. The prince who is to come has not come yet, we know him as the antichrist.
Daniel 9:26…And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
Is there peace in Jerusalem today?
Are they still at war?
Does the world hate them?
Is God’s word true?
So, verse 26 is the interval between 25 and 27 and we are living in that interval now.
Daniel 9:27 (NASB95) "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."
27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week
Notice the personal pronoun ‘he’ in this verse.
So what week is Gabriel talking about?
The 70th week, or the 7-year period of prophesied time that has not yet happened.
27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week
Who is he making the covenant with?
The Jews!
(9:24 "Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city)
…but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering…
What time period is in the middle of a week, or a 7-year period?
Times, Time and half a time
3 ½ years
1260 days
42 months
All these times are listed from Daniel forward. They are the only mention of time like this in the Bible.
Is this going to happen?
Are we close?
…and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.
At the end of this study, I am in hopes to tie together all of the end time passages to give you a clear picture of what scripture says, and I will lay out verse 27 for you in as much detail as I can.
Is God’s Word accurate? This book is Awesome!
