Today, September 1, the Byzantine Catholic Church begins a new liturgical year.

The Byzantine liturgical year is beautifully guided by the life of the Theotokos, the Mother of God. We celebrate her Nativity on September 8 and her Dormition on August 15. In this way, the liturgical year begins just before her birth and ends just after her Dormition.

The Theotokos is revealed to us as a guide. In many icons, she is shown pointing toward her Son, Our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ. Her whole life directs us toward Him.

As we enter this new liturgical year, may we entrust ourselves to the guidance and intercession of the Theotokos. May she lead us through the feasts and fasts, through times of joy and times of trial, and always draw us closer to her Son.

St. Jude’s 3rd Saturday Yard Sale is this Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. There is a wide variety of items including: clothing (men’s, women’s and children), shoes, glassware, material, vases, household items and much more.

St. Jude Thaddeus was honored on his feast day at St. Jude Byzantine Catholic Church on June 19.

St. Jude will be honored on his feast day June 19,2026 at St. Jude Byzantine Catholic Church in Ernest PA. A Moleben will be held at 5:00 pm followed by a Divine Liturgy at 5:30. Immediately following will be the veneration of the relics of St. Jude. A pot luck meal will be held in the Social Hall after the services.
St. Jude is the patron saint of hopeless cases, impossible causes and desperate situations.
