Outpost Erie Anglican Mission: Christ of the Isles Parish

Outpost Erie Anglican Mission: Christ of the Isles Parish We're sacramental Anglicans following the faith and practice of the Undivided Church in the midst of our current cultural climate. Erie, PA. Fr.

Yes, there is a way out for you. Worship Sat. 6PM at 901 W 28th St. William Henry Shontz, missionary priest. Even in our desire to exemplify the teachings and order of the ancient, Undivided Church, we do not claim that we, as Anglicans, are "The One True Church"—but we are part of it.

Prayers for our bishop who's at the Vatican for some spiritual warfare training for a few days. Yes, we're Anglican. It's all good.

Hey FB apologists of the two 'One True Church' churches telling us we need to convert: You're welcome at our Table, even if we're not welcome at yours. We pray this prayer of Bishop Lancelot Andrewes every Eucharist.

"Thin time" tonight—Walpurgisnacht/Beltane. The Eve of Sts. Philip & James—the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Pray "The Peasants' Litany" from Cornwall. (BTW, I obtained this pic from a church calendar for the month of October, published by the Anglican Catholic Church).

Interesting intellectual & spiritual trajectory. He went from becoming Eastern Orthodox to Roman Catholic to Anglican. He expresses gratitude for much in both Eastern and Roman traditions (as do I) throughout. These presentations are not vitriolic, but both EO and RC churches claim to be The One True Church (or the more recent and irenic "The Fullness of the Faith"). However—both simply cannot be right, right? Anglicanism simply does not make that claim for ourselves: we are part of the One True Church, the Body of Christ. I share his desire for true unity among these three traditions (and more are welcome to join).

Social media is full of people's (not always so irenic, but always impassioned) trajectories in the opposite direction (or partly so). I find that none of them have anything to say that hasn't already been said, however, some are certainly more articulate and rhetorically persuasive than others. But truth is not determined by who could sell ice in Iceland. So, this fella doesn't have anything to say that hasn't already been said, either, but perhaps the many interested people who haven't yet heard it all may find his contribution interesting.

BTW, I took the time to listen to all three. If anyone wishes to comment, you need to, too. If not, your comment will be deleted. I owe no one an audience on my posts. Since there are three videos, I will post each separately in the comments below.

His "Why I Am an Anglican Christian" is actually addressed to, particularly, young men, who are evangelicals and Protestants (and not Roman Catholics or Eastern Orthodox) who are taking interest in more historic expressions of Christianity. You may need to choose "All Comments" to see all 3.

St. John Chrysostom (d. 407): "They see the linen clothes lying there, which was a sign of the resurrection. For if they had removed the body, they would not have stripped it first, nor, if any had stolen it, would they have taken the trouble to remove the napkin and roll it up and lay it in a place by itself apart from the linens. They would have taken the body as it was." Homilies on the Gospel of John.

"Man that is in honor but hath no understanding is compared unto the beasts that perish"—Psalm 49:20 (Coverdale). It's what first came to mind after happening upon this reel earlier in my newsfeed (and then had to find it on Youtube), and, wouldn't you know it, it was one of the Psalms for Evening Prayer. No doubt, Dr. Tyson recounts a terrible event in history, an event we cannot reverse. But what if they had all recovered from the incident—would we still even be talking about it? What if, in eternity, they can, in fact, recover—profoundly recover? What if "we will forever be with the Lord" (1 Thessalonians 4:17) actually means that—forever? “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or even come to mind" (Isaiah 65:17). The majority of the planet (that does most of the suffering in this life) will probably continue to believe that God is Almighty and good at the same time, and the few who interpret their own cerebral limitations as actually being some kind of intellectual superiority will continue in their foolishness and will, themselves, one day simply be forgotten. Like beasts that perish. Their former pontificating will not even come to mind.
Oh, BTW—the priest is right, and not even profoundly so, just simply so.
