We love celebrating our friends over in Independent Living, and their big milestones such as getting their own place! Super excited for this friend as she’s been working hard to make this goal of her’s a reality! 🎉📦

A special “thank you” to everyone who donated towards this basket we were able to put together! Lots of cleaning supplies and some funds for groceries to help get the new place all cleaned and ready for move-in. 🧼🧺🧹

Thanks to a generous member of our Sojourners community, we were able to drop off an iPhone and an Instant Pot with brand new accessories to our friends in Independent Living!

Friday was another birthday for one of our Sojourners friends, and we were able to help celebrate by dropping off her favorite flavor cake 🎉 shoutout to a volunteer who took the time to bake, and to those who helped our leaders provide this friend with a grocery gift card as she ages out of the system.

There are two more birthdays coming up in June - comment or DM ‘cake train’ if you’d like to help us make sure our friends feel so celebrated on their special day!

Giant milkshake was the perfect way to close out this school year 🎉 we feel so lucky to have gotten to know these friends this semester - fingers crossed we’re able to visit them over the summer 🤞

Huge thanks to a local donor for providing a laptop to Kiara, one of our friends at the independent house . Kiara just landed an online job, and this gift was the final piece of the puzzle she needed to succeed.

The transition to independent living comes with many challenges. Finding a job is hard enough—having the tools to do that job shouldn’t be.

One of the most bittersweet parts about our ministry at Residing Hope is when we have to say goodbye to our friends. This week was Rachel’s last lunch club with us as she is moving off campus soon. Thankfully, she is staying close by and we’ve encouraged her to find her local Young Life area when she gets settled. Helping our friends realize that there is Young Life all around the state is such a big part of what we do.

At the end of club, one of our leaders, Casey squeezed her tight and made sure that Rachel knew how much joy she has brought to us while she has been on campus this year. Then we got the opportunity to pray for her ahead of her departure.

Bittersweet indeed!

The rest of club we had a blast eating McDonalds (the new favorite raffle prize each week!), playing a dice game and listening to Jason share about Peter jumping all in with Jesus.

We are grateful for the ways you support us as we continue to show up in the lives of our friends in foster care!
