How big of a sinner can Jesus forgive? 🤔

If you have ever felt like your life is too far gone for God’s mercy; you’ve lied, lusted, hated, cheated…whatever too much.

In Matthew 9:9-13 we meet Matthew a tax collector. A traitor, an extortionist, a spiritual outcast. Yet Jesus walks right up to Matthew’s tax booth spoke life into his dead heart and wiped away the shame of traitor.

Like with paralytic, Matthew became a living testimony to one undeniable truth: Jesus Christ absolute authority to forgive sin. No matter how deep the stain, there is power in the blood to wash it to white. Repent and be born again.

Tomorrow we learn about dropping our old ledgers, step into the waters of Jesus’ grace and stand so secure in His love we shall not be moved.

God is not honored by our exhaustion; He is honored when we trust Him enough to stop.

Tonight is Friday. The week is done for many of you. Put down the illusion that the universe depends on your striving. God does not sleep, so you can. In Christ, every day is an invitation to enter the true Sabbath rest of the Gospel.

Sleep well tonight confident in the sovereign grace of the Father who holds tomorrow.

Psalm 121:3 “…He who keeps you will not slumber.”

I saw that on a calendar joke recently, contrasting where people put their money. It made me laugh at first. Then it broke my heart.

Because for many of us, the joke is a mirror.

When we step into the presence of the Almighty, All-Satisfying God of the universe, do we actually mean it.

When we pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done," are we pleading for the cosmic supremacy of Jesus Christ over our hearts, our families, and the nations? Or are we just pulling the lever on a divine slot machine, hoping for a little temporary prosperity, a little comfort, a little worldly relief.

Prayer is not a recreational pastime. It is an amazing privilege. It is given to us to call down the infinite power of God for the advancement of His glory and the joy of His people in Him.

The gambler at the table is completely consumed by a desire for earthly treasure. He risks everything for it. Oh, how the Spirit convicts us if the world pursues its fleeting, dying idols with more passion, more desperation, and more focus than we pursue the living God in prayer!

Do not treat the throne of grace like a vending machine or a slot machine. God is not a jackpot to be won; He is the Treasure. Because of Jesus Christ we can come to Him boldly. We should come to Him desperately with all of our cares and concerns. And by His grace, let us actually mean it.

Take time today to pray for Nigeria and our persecuted brothers and sisters.

Our ultimate hope isn't just escaping earth; it is the infinite, soul-satisfying joy of seeing and savoring Jesus Christ forever.When the trumpet sounds, our faith will finally become sight.

Look up today, family. He is our great reward.

When tragedy strikes our world, people naturally ask, “Why them?”

But in Luke 13 when Jesus asks about the sudden collapse of the Tower of Siloam that killed 18 people, He flipped the question entirely. He used it as a sobering reminder for the living: “Unless you repent, you will likewise perish.”

Tragedies are cosmic alarms. They smash through our complacency and remind us that life is fragile, death is unpredictable, and tomorrow is not guaranteed. The real question we should ask is not “Why did they die?” but, “Why am I still alive?”

Disasters are a call to self-examination. Physical death is a tragedy, but the ultimate tragedy is spiritual self-deception, clinging to the world while assuming we are safe.

Let’s pray for those affected by the disaster, praying that in their deepest pain they will come to and cling to Jesus as their only hope and anchor.

Let every headline remind us to pray for God to help us number our days, check our hearts, and ensure our hearts are truly anchored in Christ.

The paralytic had many needs but his greatest need was not for his limbs to work again, it was the renewal of his soul.

Matthew 9:1-8: Jesus forgives the paralyzed man’s sins before healing his body. Our deepest problem is not physical sickness, but our sin problem.

When Jesus forgives us, He makes us born again with entirely new desires. We no longer live for ourselves, but for Him. True love for Christ means walking in joyful obedience to His commandments. Real healing transforms both our eternity and our daily devotion.

This redemption brings a peace that surpasses all understanding.
