Saint Francis of Assisi was poor only that he might be Christ-like. He recognized creation as another manifestation of the beauty of God. In 1979, he was named patron of ecology. He did great penance—apologizing to “Brother Body” later in life—that he might be totally disciplined for the will of God. Francis’ poverty had a sister, Humility, by which he meant total dependence on the good God. But all this was, as it were, preliminary to the heart of his spirituality: living the gospel life, summed up in the charity of Jesus and perfectly expressed in the Eucharist.

Here is the breakdown for each activity:

➡ Oct. 3rd. WWMIN Baby Shower.
⏰10am-12pm. 📍Fr. Mac Hall🔸Come show support to a new mom! Food, games, prizes and cake will be provided. Wrapped gifts may be brought directly to the shower.

➡Oct. 4th. Blesstival
⏰4pm-6pm 📍Near the Bell Tower🔸Bring your pets, rosaries, crucifixes, cars, phones - anything!

➡Oct. 7th. Rosary Congress & International Rosary
⏰7am-8pm📍Cana Chapel🔸12 hours of Adoration (7am-7pm). Followed by the International Rosary in 10 languages. Please sign up on our website!

➡Oct. 10th. Prayer Blanket Sunday
⏰All day📍Pick up in main office🔸Prayer blankets will be available after all of the Masses, free of charge. Names of recipients will be put into the Book of Prayers.

➡Oct. 15th. Jubilee Pilgrimage
⏰Departure from STA: 6:30am📍Carey/Toledo, Ohio🔸We will travel to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation and the Rosary Cathedral. Get your tickets on our website before Oct. 5th!

Each of the archangels performs a different mission in Scripture: Michael protects; Gabriel announces; Raphael guides. Earlier belief that inexplicable events were due to the actions of spiritual beings has given way to a scientific world-view and a different sense of cause and effect. Yet believers still experience God’s protection, communication, and guidance in ways which defy description. We cannot dismiss angels too lightly.

The Church is for all God’s children, rich and poor, peasants and scholars, the sophisticated and the simple. But obviously the greatest concern of the Church must be for those who need the most help—those made helpless by sickness, poverty, ignorance, or cruelty. Vincent de Paul is a particularly appropriate patron for all Christians today, when hunger has become starvation, and the high living of the rich stands in more and more glaring contrast to the physical and moral degradation in which many of God’s children are forced to live.
