We'll be out again this weekend if you missed us, so come on down, grab a Tootsie Roll, and help support our friends with intellectual disabilites!

Every few years, the Knights of Columbus select an icon of a saint whose life and example speaks to the mission of the Knights. On Tuesday, January 31st, our council hosted the Pilgrim Icon of Saint Joseph for veneration at Saint Patrick Church. The hour-long prayer service consisted of a Liturgy of the Word, rosary, devotions to Saint Joseph, and an inspiring homily from Father Dariusz. We also prayed in a special way for the late Pope Benedict XVI on the one-month anniversary of his passing (whose baptismal name was Joseph - a fitting tribute!). Pictured here flanking the icon are Brother Knights Don Gould, Grand Knight Jim Pedersen, Tom Ceniglio (Grand Knight of Moodus Council 9358), and Father Dariusz Dudzik. Saint Joseph, pray for us!

As the world prepares to say a final goodbye to Pope Benedict XVI, our council prayers for the repose of his soul:

Father, eternal shepherd, hear the prayers of your people for your servant Benedict, who governed your Church with love.

In your mercy, bring him with the flock once entrusted to his care to the reward you have promised your faithful servants.

May he who faithfully administered the mysteries of your forgiveness and love on earth, rejoice with you for ever in heaven.

In your wise and loving care, you made your servant teacher of all your Church.

He did the work of Christ on earth.

May your Son welcome him into eternal glory.

May your servant whom you appointed high priest of your flock be counted now among the priests in the life of your kingdoms.

Give your servant the reward of eternal happiness and let your mercy win for us the gift of your life and love.

We entrust your servant to your mercy with faith and confidence.

In the human family he was an instrument of your peace and love.

May he rejoice in those gifts for ever with your saints.

Amen.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Our council joins the entire Church in praying for the health of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

Let us pray. Almighty and Eternal God, You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You. Hear our prayers for your sick servant Benedict for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed Michael McGivney, pray for us.

Recently, our brother knight, Peter Zawisza (right) presented a donation on behalf of our council to the East Hampton Public Library. Belltown Council has been donating to the library for over fifteen years, and the books purchased with donations are emblazoned with a special stamp. Pictured at left is library director Timothy Kellogg accepting the donation.

Next Sunday, November 20th, the Belltown and Moodus councils will be hosting a first-class relic of Blessed Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus, during the 11:30 AM Mass at Saint Bridget of Kildare Church. Immediately following Mass, we will pray together a short litany, after which everyone is invited to venerate the relic. The entire parish community is invited to attend and entrust their petitions to Blessed McGivney, and we hope you will join us in praying for our founder's canonization!
