Every Sunday morning, I look forward to going to church. I look forward to being around people with the same sickness that I suffer from…sin. It’s a place that I can go and know that I am accepted because Jesus alone accepts me just the way I am. I don’t have to dress to impress. I don’t have to have it all together. I don’t have to be perfect. I don’t have to be “holier than thou.” I don’t have to have the entire Bible memorized word for word.
Jesus accepts ME and HE wants me to be there. He wants to have a closer relationship with me. He wants to shape and mold me into what He desires for my life. He wants to do great works through me. He wants me to be in complete and total awe of Him. He wants this for all of us!
Perhaps you’ve been away from church for a while. Perhaps you haven’t been consistently present on Sunday morning. Perhaps you’re going through a rough spell and feel as though the world is crashing down all around you. Jesus will never, ever stop calling you to Him. He will never, ever shut the door in your face.
If you’ve been absently wondering down your own path, come back to where it feels like home. A place where all of your brothers and sisters are willing to do this often difficult life with you. Ask the Lord to “Take you back to the place that feels like home, to the people you can depend on, to the faith that's in your bones. Take you back to a preacher and a verse, where they've seen you at your worst, to the love you had at first.” Tell the Lord “I want to go to church.”
I’m praying that the Lord brings you back and rejuvenates your spiritual fire. He deserves your praise, your worship and your presence!
