Vista Community Church Reaching More, Reaching Further, Through You! Worshipful | Relational | Missional
..Our Practice and Our Definition of Followers of Jesus.

That is, these are the things we understand God calling us to do, but also Jesus calls us to BE. So, we worship and strive to become more worshipful of heart; we relate by gathering regularly in small and large groups and through these communities we learn to be relational more and more like Jesus exemplified; we do missions and we continue to become more missional in all that we think and do. Worshipful: knowing Jesus
Worship begins with knowing Jesus - being reconciled to God in Christ - humbly realizing that it is all about God rather than me. Once we rightly see God and rightly see me - then we worship. (Gospel, Rom 3:21-28)

Relational: following Jesus
True relationship begins with an understanding of Jesus’ demands upon our lives with others. There IS a way Jesus calls us to live and it leads to heart change, not just relational techniques. So we seek to relate to one another according to Jesus. (Loving, Mt 5-7)

Missional: being Jesus
As followers of Jesus we are called to BE Jesus to the unchurched world. Our best evangelistic technique is to lean into worship and relationship (above)...that is to live with God and the center and Jesus as our example. As we become more honest with our own wrongful tendencies and continue to have our heart changed, the world will notice - the world across the sea AND across the street. (Going, Matt 28:18-20)

“…as yourself” is a part we so often forget. Remember, YOU deserve love, YOU have worth, YOU are awesome. And the way you talk to yourself means a lot. Tempted to think you are less deserving of love than someone else? As Pastor Adam so kindly says, “Stop it!”

📚 "Dad Tired and Loving It: Stumbling Your Way to Spiritual Leadership" by Jerrad Lopes

During this gathering on ✨ Saturday, October 31 at 9am ✨ we’ll discuss the book together and learn about what it means to lead our families spiritually— even when we’re figuring it out as we go. Matt Cooper will lead the conversation, creating space for honest discussion, encouragement, and practical takeaways for dads and those who want to support the fathers around them better.

We encourage you to read the book before October 31 to get the most out of the time together.

It's not a thing that we're going to check off every week. It is the bent of our life. It is the perspective that we see everything else through. We are supposed to be living in rest.”

Get to know the speaker for our upcoming Intersections event! ⬇️

Mr. Troy McIntosh got his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College in economics and followed that up with a masters degree in education from The Ohio State University. Prior to his decades-long experience as a leader in education as Head of School at Worthington Christian Schools, president of the Central District Athletic Board, and Vice President of the OHSAA Board of Directors, Troy served in the Ohio House of Representatives in the Legislative Services Commission Fellowship Program. Currently Troy serves as the Executive Director of the Ohio Christian Education Network, a role that brings him into the public square in conversation with educators and lawmakers alike. It is a distinct privilege to have Troy with us to share the guiding principles he operates with as a Christian thinking deeply about politics.
