Congratulations is in order...

Juan Diego Catholic H.S. is the recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award placing us among the best K-12 schools in the country. The announcement was made today by Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Education for the U.S. Department of Education. In K-12 circles, the highest award a school might receive for excellence is the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award bestowed annually by the U.S. Department of Education. The award is given after a lengthy review process that vets schools from all over the country as to their academic credentials and special programs that make them truly outstanding and worthy. Juan Diego is able to occupy such a rare place in the American educational landscape.

No high school from the state of Utah has won this award since 1997. In 2019, only 50 private schools across America receive such an honor, and only eight of those were high schools.

Juan Diego Catholic High School Class of 2006 graduate, author, screenwriter and filmmaker,
Celeste Chaney will be doing a book reading for Author in the House at the Sweet Branch Library
(455 F. Street E. Salt Lake City, Utah 84103) on Thursday, March 28 from 7-8pm. A journalist turned
marketer, she left the corporate world to publish her first novel, In Absence of Fear , which received
Honorable Mention at Foreword’s 2015 Book of the Year Awards. Her screenplay, The Feed ,
adapted from her short story of the same name, is in development with Passage Pictures. Chaney is
currently at work with mulitple projects. A short film, Cradle Song , a feature-length film project,
