After years of sitting in all types of weather, the seal between stone pieces rots away. This monument was about to fall over.

I leveled the base and reset this very heavy, very tall, monument.
I used leveling lead wedges, epoxy putty and monument setting compound.

Those materials harden like cement and are very solid.
They keep moisture out too.

This one is about 8’ tall and it belongs to Lucy Spears and her daughter is beside her. Her inscription reads:

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.”

So, Barbi Schroeder asked if we’d take a look out here at Felt Plains Cemetery in Benton Twp of Ingham County.

It was a lovely drive through the Michigan farm land and gave us a reason to stop at Merindorf Meats!

The small cemetery is well kept, but as usual, the older sections are very broken and neglected. They have very old stones and unique stones I’ve not seen before. I’d sure love to fix some. But it’s 35 minutes one way from my house.

Enjoy these pictures I took.

THAT… was amazing.
15 stones cleaned and two large family stones cleaned.

With a little help from my friends.
Merideth, our Township clerk, brought kids from her church youth group.
Terry and Dave were here, Henry and Sandra Pray were here and I got to meet their son, Nathan Pray.

Hard work, but we all came together to make it happen.
You should see Henry swing that broom!

It’ll take time to get them white, but we made great improvement.
Thank you all.

300 pounds of cement. One down, one to go. It could be worse…. Just ask Harry Chapin.

The fountain in Columbus Circle in D.C. has been without water for two years.

Look at it now!

Had a great time of rememberance and honor being in the Dimondale Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Service at the cemetery.

It was so nice seeing our village come together.
The parade was very long and fun was had by all.

They said this may be the Lions last year.
Someone will need to step up to make this event continue into the future.
I’d like to see a ceremony at the G.A.R. Memorial and I volunteer to make that happen. FYI

We got some good pictures of the memorial service and my wonderful Uncle, Clarence Hill. Did you know that he has put flags on the graves in the cemetery for 10 years!?

Now, what’s next on my list…. Flag Day. Sunday, June 14 at 2:30pm.
Eaton County Historical Commission’s History Walk at Dimondale Cemetery!
I get to be Mr. Tyler Hull. Don’t miss it!
7 great stories of Dimondale Pioneers!
