Kansas City Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker completed a 45-yard field goal with three seconds left in the Chief’s playoff game yesterday, earning the team a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals and a ticket to the Super Bowl.

Butker, who joined the Knights of Columbus while a student-athlete at Georgia Tech, delivered the keynote address at the K of C College Councils Conference in September 2020.

“Now is the time for you to take up your task, as men of the Church to fight this battle for our nation, to bring Christ back to our daily lives,” Butker said. “Men need to play active roles within our Church, and I believe being a Knight is a great start …Your priests need to hear from you. They need to see you. Other men need to see you.”

Brother Knights, Family and Friends of Assembly 1988,

As many of you know by now, Fred Menotti, passed away last night at the age of 96 years old. For those of you who had the pleasure of knowing Fred, you know that he lived a wonderful life and was very dedicated to his Catholic faith. Fred dedicated a lot of his time helping out at the Shrine of the True Cross with literally anything that needed to be done. Fred has a very sweet and loving heart and he will definitely be missed by all!

Fred was a World War II veteran and served as a tail gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and former Post Commander.

Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Roach Council 3217 and a Fourth Degree Sir Knight with the Matthew H. Wilson Assembly 1988. He was a proud Knight of Columbus for over 64 years and is an excellent example for all on how to live a good and faithful life. He is now watching over all of us with his lovely wife from a very special place in Heaven. Please keep Fred and his entire family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements will be sent out once the family has finalized them.
