Beacon Foundation is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to teaching and learning resources to the Muslim community of Southeast Michigan based on the deep and diverse tradition of Muslim scholarship. We believe that nurturing self-development within the framework of knowledge, action and resultant spiritual state (ilm, amal, haal) will provide positive and relevant transformational change for our Muslim community. Beacon Foundation is dedicated to providing education within safe-spaces in both mosques and non-traditional spaces that connect hearts across communities, especially between city and suburb within Detroit and Greater Detroit. Rather, it seeks to augment existing resources to engage in an informed and dynamic implementation of the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Beacon Foundation & Muslim Community of Western Suburbs are excited to host Hajji Noor Deen, a world-renowned Master Islamic Calligrapher, for a 2-Day intensive workshop at Medina Activity Center on Jan 25th &26th.

He will be teaching two separate tracks, Thuluth&Naskh and Arabic Calligraphy in the Chinese Script (ACCS). Registration required. Cost will include materials and small group instruction in the traditional Islamic sacred arts method.

Umair Haseeb is a native Chicagoan who has been working in Islamic education and community for over a decade. His passion for learning led him to study with local scholars and eventually to embark on a journey to receive his Alimiyyah from The Qarawiyyin in Fes, Morocco. He is currently pursuing graduate studies in Usul al-Fiqh (Legal Theory) from Al Azhar University, Cairo. Upon his return stateside, he began to work as a chaplain at Cook County Correctional and an Imam at Chicago Islamic Center under the auspices of Shaykh Muhammad Al Imam. He also served as the Religious Director at Ta'leef where he still currently teaches.
