Day 7
12-Day Spiritual Renewal & Alignment Plan for Women
Anchored in The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13)
“Forgive Us Our Debts”
Today’s devotion is about the best self-care tool we could ever use, repentance. In a world that often focuses on external self-care, God invites us to care for our souls by keeping our hearts clean and our relationship with Him aligned.
When Jesus taught us to pray, “Forgive us our debts,” He was reminding us that repentance is not about condemnation, it is about connection. Repentance removes the barriers that sin can create between us and God, restoring intimacy and spiritual focus.
David understood this when he prayed in Psalm 51:10:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
God does not cleanse us to shame us. He cleanses us to renew us. He restores without condemning and heals without humiliating. This is why personal repentance is relationship maintenance, it keeps our hearts aligned with God and our spirits sensitive to His voice.
The promise of forgiveness is made clear in 1 John 1:9:
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Un-repented sin can keep us stagnant, weighed down by guilt and shame. But that weight was never meant for us to carry. God desires to lift it, cleanse us, and free us so we can walk confidently in His will and His plan.
When we pray, “Forgive us our debts,” we are choosing freedom over stagnation and restoration over distance from Him.
My prayer today:
Lord, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Forgive me of my personal sins and I accept Your forgiveness and release every weight of guilt and shame. Help me walk in alignment with Your will and purpose. Amen.
