There is something powerful about pruning that most people don’t understand, because it doesn’t look like growth at first… it looks like loss.
In Gospel of John 15, Jesus paints a picture that cuts deep into our lives:
He says that He is the vine, we are the branches, and the Father is the gardener.

And what does the gardener do? He prunes.
Not because the branch is dead… but because it’s alive.
Pruning is not punishment.
Pruning is proof of purpose.
A branch that bears no fruit is removed—but the one that does bear fruit? That one gets cut back. That one gets trimmed. That one gets reduced. Why? So it can produce more.

That means some of the cutting in your life isn’t the enemy—it’s God.
It’s God removing distractions.
God cutting off relationships that looked good but weren’t producing anything eternal.

God stripping habits, mindsets, and even opportunities that were draining your calling instead of feeding it.
And let’s be honest… it hurts.
Because sometimes the very things God removes are the things we got comfortable with. The people we laughed with. The environments we grew used to. The version of ourselves we thought we needed to survive.

But a vine that is never pruned will grow wild… not fruitful.
It will spread in every direction, look full on the outside, but produce little to nothing that actually matters.
God is not interested in you looking full—He’s interested in you being fruitful.
Pruning brings focus.
Pruning brings strength.
Pruning redirects your energy into what actually produces life.

When a vine is cut back, it doesn’t waste resources trying to maintain dead weight. Instead, it channels everything into new, healthy growth. Stronger branches. Better fruit. Deeper roots.
That’s what God is doing in you.
He is cutting away what you don’t need so you can become who you were called to be.

Some of you are wondering why things are falling apart… why certain doors closed… why certain people walked away… why certain seasons dried up.
It’s not because God abandoned you.
It’s because He loves you too much to let you stay unpruned.
Because unpruned growth leads to spiritual stagnation.

But pruned growth leads to transformation.
You cannot carry everything into your next season.
You cannot grow while holding onto things that are no longer assigned to your life.

And here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear.
If you refuse to let God prune you… you will eventually limit your own growth.
You’ll stay busy, but not fruitful.
Surrounded, but not sharpened.
Active, but not effective.

But when you surrender to the pruning… when you trust God enough to let Him remove what He sees is holding you back… that’s when real growth begins.

That’s when your faith deepens.
That’s when your character strengthens.
That’s when your life starts producing something that actually reflects Him.

So don’t fight the pruning.
Don’t run from it.
Don’t resent it.
Embrace it.

Because every cut has a purpose.
Every removal has a reason.
Every season of loss is making room for greater fruit.

Stay connected to the Vine. Stay rooted in Him. And trust that the same God who is cutting you back… is also the One who is growing you forward.

And when the season changes…
You won’t just look different—
You’ll bear fruit like never before.

Many Blessings!
