The tomb was empty on Sunday morning. The women went to the tomb just after sunrise to deal with a dead body, but found an empty tomb. They were confused and terrified by the sight of the angel, but right there in front of them was the indisputably empty tomb. They didn't fully understand it but the empty tomb equaled hope.

There are lots of twists and turns in our lives that we don't understand. There are things in the Bible that we don't understand, but the empty tomb is right in front of us. Hope even though life is still confusing and filled with the unexpected. And then we more fully understand that the empty tomb means Jesus is alive and eagerly at work in our lives. His daily healing, forgiveness, wisdom and strength bring us overflowing HOPE.

Friends, Jesus is alive!

Friday was a drama-filled day. Saturday, the day after Jesus’ ugly crucifixion and burial — nothing happened on Saturday. Well, at least it seemed like nothing happened on Saturday. In what had to be one of the most unusual days in history Jesus' body laid in the tomb. His followers were stunned, confused and disoriented. But even though they could not see it, God was present and He was at work. Resurrection Sunday was just one day away!

We have days (sometimes weeks, months and years) when God seems to be silent and inactive. But, the first Easter story reminds us that He is present and active. Hang on, you may be one day away from something incredible!
