Rica and Mike Ficco, along with their 3 boys, have been members of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 20 years, during which she has been deeply involved in both our school and parish communities.

One of Rica's most beautiful charisms is prayer—she has likely prayed for everyone reading this at one time or another! On any given day, you can find her attending daily Mass, offering a listening ear to a fellow parishioner, assisting Paula in the sacristy, attending a BSCC or BSCS event, or listening to God alongside children in the CGS atrium.

Her dedication spans countless roles: coordinating and laundering altar linens, serving as sacristan, leading or assisting with Christmas and Easter decorating, serving as a lead catechist for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), lector at Mass, teaching Confirmation classes to teens, middle school ministry facilitator, and serving as secretary on the BSCS Advisory Council, and BSCS Sunshine Committee, to name just a few!

We are also grateful for her inspiring witness to her vocation as a wife and mother. Her three amazing boys are a beautiful reflection of her deep devotion, presence, and constant prayers for her family.

She pours herself into all these efforts with a truly joyful heart, and we are incredibly blessed to have her in our community. Thank you, Rica!

"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."

Today, we celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary's Assumption into heaven: body and soul.

Mother Mary, assumed into heaven, pray for us and lead us closer to your Son.

In today's Gospel, Peter walks on the water while his eyes were fixed on Jesus. When he focused on the wind, fear took over and he began to sink.

We all have moments when fear feels stronger than faith. In those moments, we can pray as Peter did: “Lord, save me!” Jesus hears us and reaches out His hand.

Keep your eyes on Him. He is with you in the storm.

This weekend, we have the opportunity to give back to the priests who have given so much to us as we participate in the annual Retired & Infirm Priest Appeal.

Over 70 retired priests in the Archdiocese of Denver still serve the Church today by celebrating Mass, participating in ministry, and mentoring new priests. Your gift helps provide them with the care, dignity and support they deserve in retirement.

If you're able, please prayerfully consider making a gift during the second collection at Mass this weekend or online at https://archden.org/give/retired-priests/.

Do you have a 2026 graduate? If so, we would like to pray for them! 🎓🙏

Please bring your 2026 graduate to ANY Mass on the weekend of August 8 and 9. We will recognize all 2026 graduates with a group blessing. Whether they are going off to college, vocations, work, or something else entirely, we would love to pray for them. We know this time is hard for parents, and we are all called to prayer!

Today is the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.

After his conversion and discernment of his vocation, St. Ignatius of Loyola, along with St. Francis Xavier and St. Peter Faber, founded the Society of Jesus as an order to be focused on both missionary work and teaching, later becoming the first Superior General of the Jesuits. He is also remembered for his spirituality today: "ad majorem Dei gloriam” or “for the greater glory of God”.

St. Ignatius of Loyola, Patron Saint of the Jesuits, pray for us!
