Happy Resurrection Sunday!

“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”” Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

JLM Love Feast 2026 - Maundy Thursday - Holy Thursday

“So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately. Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭31‬-‭35‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Good morning JLM Family and have a blessed Jesus filled Wednesday!

Overflow: Day 10 • Devotional

Becoming a River, Not a Reservoir

God never intended for His blessings to stop with us. His design is not for us to be reservoirs that collect and contain His goodness, but rivers that carry it to others. A reservoir stores water for itself, but a river releases water that brings life wherever it flows. That is the picture of overflow.

When Jesus declared in John 7:38 (NIV), “Whoever believes in me… rivers of living water will flow from within them,” He was describing a life so full of His Spirit that it could not remain confined. It had to move outward. Rivers don’t apologize for flowing. They don’t ask permission to bless the ground they touch. They simply move, carving pathways of life through dry places.

Similarly, the life of the believer is meant to transform environments. Your workplace should be different because you’re there. Your family should feel the effects of love and grace flowing out from you. Even casual encounters—with the cashier, the neighbor, or the stranger—become opportunities for living water to overflow.

But here’s the challenge: sometimes we slip into “reservoir living.” We receive God’s grace, His forgiveness, His blessings—but we keep them to ourselves. Fear of lack whispers, “What if I don’t have enough?” Pride suggests, “This is mine to enjoy.” Comfort says, “Let someone else do the giving.” Yet the principle of the Kingdom is this: what we release, God replenishes. What we hoard stagnates.

Jesus put it this way in Matthew 10:8 (NIV): “Freely you have received; freely give.” Every gift we have—from salvation to daily bread—is grace received. And grace received is meant to become grace released. When we live as rivers, not reservoirs, generosity becomes a natural part of our lives. Forgiveness flows. Encouragement abounds. Hope spreads.

Think about the Jordan River. It flows into the Sea of Galilee, which teems with life because it both receives and gives. However, the same river flows into the Dead Sea, which receives but does not release its water. Nothing lives there. The difference is not in the water, but in the flow. Life comes where there is release.

So the question is: where is God asking you to be a river today? Is it in sharing encouragement with someone who feels unseen? Is it in forgiving a debt—financial or emotional—you’ve been holding on to? Is it in sowing generosity into a need you’ve noticed? Every time you release, you create space for God to pour in more.

Pause & Reflect:

Am I living like a river or a reservoir?
Where might fear or self-preservation be blocking the flow of God’s blessings through me?
What practical step can I take today to release what God has given me?
Prayer: Father, thank You that You fill me, not to store up blessings, but to let them flow in, to, and through me. Make my life a river of Your love, grace, and generosity. Let everything You pour into me bring life to those around me, in Jesus' name, amen.

Good night JLM Family and Jesus loves you!

“Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬

*The Overflow of Gratitude*

Gratitude has a way of changing everything. Not because our circumstances constantly change, but because gratitude changes us. It shifts our perspective, softens our hearts, and opens our eyes to see God’s hand at work even in the small things. And when gratitude takes root, it doesn’t stay hidden inside—it overflows.

Paul commands us, “Give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV). Notice the wording. He doesn’t say for all circumstances, but in them. Gratitude isn’t about pretending life is perfect; it’s about recognizing that even in the middle of pain, disappointment, or uncertainty, God is still good, still faithful, and still worthy of thanks.

When gratitude overflows, it releases peace. Colossians 3:15 (NIV) says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… And be thankful.” Gratitude and peace are inseparably linked. A thankful heart makes room for God’s peace to dwell. The opposite is also true: when we grumble, complain, or focus on what we lack, peace slips away.

Think about the difference between a person who lives in gratitude and one who doesn’t. The grateful person can walk through the same storm as everyone else, yet somehow carry joy and calm. Why? Because gratitude lifts their eyes above the storm to the One who commands the wind and waves. That kind of perspective doesn’t just sustain them—it spills out, encouraging others. Gratitude is contagious.

Perhaps this is why Paul could sing hymns in prison (Acts 16:25). Gratitude shifted his atmosphere. His joy overflowed so powerfully that the jailer and his family were saved that very night. Gratitude has a way of opening prison doors—not just for us, but for those around us.

Overflowing gratitude doesn’t mean ignoring hardships—it means seeing God’s goodness in the midst of them. It means thanking Him for the breath in your lungs, the people He’s placed in your life, the salvation you have in Christ, and the future hope that nothing can take away. Gratitude fills the cup, and when the cup is full, it overflows.

Today, you may not be able to change your circumstances—but you can choose gratitude. And as you do, you’ll find peace rising, joy returning, and hope spreading to others.

Pause & Reflect:

What blessings have I overlooked because I was too focused on what I lacked?
How might gratitude shift the atmosphere in my home, workplace, or relationships?
Who around me needs to experience the overflow of my gratitude today?
Prayer: Father, thank You for every good gift You’ve placed in my life. Teach me to give thanks in all circumstances, trusting Your hand even when I don’t see the whole picture. Let my gratitude overflow, bringing peace and encouragement to those around me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Overflow is more than mere abundance—it’s the divine moment when God pours so richly into our lives that it spills over into the lives of others. It’s not just a blessing to receive; it’s a powerful calling to share. This 10-day devotional will help you to recognize, receive, and release the...

Blessed New Year and God is doing a new thing!

Jesus Lounge Ministry End of the Year Newsletter December 2025

Jesus Lounge Ministry wishes you all a blessed new year 2026, with gratitude, love, peace, and joy, as we keep our eyes on the Lord. God is good!

This year, your love and support for the ministry have helped us serve over 300 individuals from over 75 families in various capacities. Due to the current immigration crisis in the country, the need for furniture has shifted, with the people we served needing housing more than furniture. Even though we continue to help families with clothes and household needs, applying for legal documents has become on-demand and a priority. JLM assisted and attended three citizenship ceremonies, helping families to change their legal status. We have renewed residents' (alien cards) and applied for I-485 immigration to register as permanent residents and asylum seekers. We received financial support from the Deportation Defense Response and Brethren Faith in Action grants from the Church of the Brethren.

Our partners from the In-Crowd, Cason Church, Clutter Reduction, Delray Haul-Away, the Homeless Task Force, Eat Better Live Better, Women of Impossibilities, the Delray Beach Police Department, Junior League of Boca Raton (period poverty support), our community partners, and friends (Rick & Renee Davis, Susie Brown, Shirley Encarnacion, Steve & Dery Fitzpatrick, Jackie Ermola, and Wayne & Karen Sutton, Marla Bieber) continue to support us as we do the same. The Atlantic Southeast District, our sponsored church, Miami First Church of the Brethren, and some amazing donors keep the ministry moving forward with their gifts.

JLM helped with food stamps and Medicaid/Medicare applications, translation and interpretation services, and Notary services, alongside Pastor Founa Badet. We also had one baptism and one wedding ceremony. Provided seven families a turkey for Thanksgiving from our donors and board members and signed up five families for the Christmas ham basket from the City of Delray Beach distribution. We had our Bible study every third Thursday of the month and our worship service every third Saturday, both on Zoom, as well as the weekly Sunday night prayer on WhatsApp led by our ministry team.

JLM was nominated and awarded second place for the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, Our People’s Choice Award (OPCA) Religious Organization. Once again nominated for the Hats Of Awards from Nonprofits First, but this time for Family Services Impact on October 9th, 2025. We had two families and a total of 9 members at the 2025 Church of the Brethren Annual Conference, among the 30-plus attendees from the Atlantic Southeast District in Greensboro, North Carolina, courtesy of the district, in collaboration with CDC support from the Virlina district. Our hearts are full of gratitude and Thanksgiving.

As we continue to be Jesus in the neighborhood through daily devotions, weekly prayers in Ministry, JLM Education offering minimal virtual English classes, JLM Furniture & Miscellaneous support weekly, and the prayer line on WhatsApp. We have provided some housing aid, helping families sleeping on the street secure a temporary room (we could only afford two months, and we are hoping to fundraise), as well as welcoming a newborn and supporting the new parent. We have done notable things for the glory of God, and we praise His holy name.

This year, we celebrated our First Annual Thanksgiving Celebration on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, with 40 in attendance at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Delray Beach, Florida. It was a beautiful event full of praise, with great music, multilingual sermonettes (4 preachers), dances, testimonials, delicious food, good lighting, and joy. We want to see you this coming year on Saturday, November 21st, 2026. Therefore, mark your calendars because the planning committee is in action. As a member of the Anti-bias Coalition of Delray Beach (ABC), JLM participated in the Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration at Temple Sinai, where Pastor Founa Badet did a sermonette on giving on November 18th, 2025.

On Tuesday, December 22nd, 2025, we once again celebrated the children of the ministry, the neighborhood, and friends at our third annual For The Children Christmas event. We applied and received toys and gifts, including bikes, books, and scooters, from Toys for Tots, Eat Better Live Better, and private donors. Our board members donated the snacks and drinks (hot dogs with buns, popcorn, cupcakes) with our very own Santa (Pastor Wesley Altidor) to take pictures with each participant, children, and adults. We had 30 in attendance, and they played racing games, danced, and sang the night away in some Jesus-filled fun. Praise God to whom all blessings flow in Jesus' name. Amen!

Our community is growing for the glory of God, and we give Him praise and honor. As we pray for a truck to do pickup and distribution, and one day own our warehouse, we pray to remain and may God’s will be done.

The year ahead may be unknown, but we trust the One who goes before us, walks beside us, and calls us by name.

May this new year be a season of renewal for your spirit, strength for your journey, and peace for your heart. May Christ meet you right where you are—at the table, in the neighborhood, in moments of joy, and in moments of need. And may love guide our steps as we continue to be a community of welcome, listening, and grace.

As Scripture reminds us:
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19)

We look forward to walking with you in this new year—serving, loving, and growing together in Christ.

With Gratitude from All of Us in Jesus Lounge Ministry, our board members, and volunteers*:

Blessed Sunday and have Jesus filled day JLM Family!

The Gift of Presence:
Day 3 • Devotional

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Christmas signals that Jesus has come into the world. He entered into our sorrow, sadness, disappointment, fear, and broken hearts. When we are shattered and messy, He does not flinch. He does not look away.

Some of us have never experienced that kind of unconditional love. And it can be hard to imagine what it might feel like. But it doesn’t stop our hearts from longing.

We long to be seen.

We long to be known.

We long to be cared for.

We long to be held.

Some days, it would just be really nice for someone to knock on our door, make us pancakes, and linger at the kitchen table.

When life gets complicated and messy and hard, we long for love to be tangible. To be more than an idea, but a real, embodied experience.

And that’s exactly what the incarnation is.

Jesus isn’t just present to us as an idea. He came in the flesh to embody who God is. Someone we could see and touch and feel.

When Thomas, one of Jesus’ closest followers, doubted Jesus was who He said He was, Jesus didn’t scold him or shame him.

He showed His scars.

At Christmas, this is what we celebrate. The God who made the heavens and flung the stars, came down to live underneath them. His glory, power, and majesty were all packed into the cry of a newborn baby, right in the middle of the mess and mire of real life, The God who breathed life into dirt and dust walked around in a body made of dirt and dust.

And He did it because He longed to be with His creation. This was His purpose from the very beginning, ever since He rested the first humans in the garden. John tells us He came so He might dwell with us.

And the incarnation continues with us. The Holy Spirit has come to dwell in the hearts of all who believe so they might show the love of God to one another in tangible ways.

That cashier who asked how you were doing and actually waited for the answer.

The friend who sent you the text right when you needed it.

The child who threw their arms around you, unhindered and unashamed.

Could it be that these are tangible reminders of God’s presence all around you?

Might you practice becoming more aware of how they might be showing up in this season?

When we get rid of the distractions, when we stop hiding, when we stop striving, sometimes our eyes are open to the reality that God really is near, as close as our own kitchen tables.

“We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade, the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him. He walks everywhere incognito. And the incognito is not always easy to pe*****te. The real labour is to remember to attend. In fact to come awake. Still more to remain awake.”
-C.S. Lewis

Prayer: God, thank you for coming to us in such a tangible way. Help us to stay awake and alert to all the ways You move incognito through the world and help us attend to the reality that You are here, dwelling in our midst, ready to be with us. May we open our eyes to all the unique ways you reveal Yourself to us. Help us to release any distractions that may keep us from experiencing Your love in its fullness. And finally, help us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to someone else who may desperately need a knock on their door. Thank you for coming to us when we needed it most. Amen!

Christmas signals that Jesus has come into the world. He entered into our sorrow, sadness, disappointment, fear, and broken hearts. When we are shatte
