Fun fact: Hagerman is home to Idaho’s state fossil! About 3.5 million years ago, herds of the “Hagerman Horse” roamed the area. More than 200 of them have been found in the fossil beds near town, the largest find of this species anywhere. And here’s the twist: they were more closely related to zebras than to modern horses. You can see where they were found at Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument.
