Happy Spring Holy Hikers!
These early Spring days makes for some of the best hikes we have! The forest is coming back to life and the wildflowers are beginning to wake up, water is flowing in the streams, the air smells clean and the background sound is a lively chorus of spring peepers—-all beautiful gifts from our maker.
This first Spring hike will take us to Indian Tomb Hollow, where we hope to enjoy all of these gifts as well as learn a little history of the area. If you would like to share a ride and / or follow us there this Saturday March 14 please plan to meet us at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Decatur at 9am. If it suits you better to meet us in Moulton at the Warrior Trading Post we will stop there at about 9:40 for any needed snacks or water (or even a bathroom break) before we all head to our destination.
This hike is easy to moderate with an uneven road to follow and a couple of not-so-wide creek crossings. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Bring water, a snack, camera, hiking pole or anything else you may need personally for about two hours in the woods.

Hello Hikers!
Have you caught a glimpse of the Cranes this year? They’re everywhere! And there is no place better to see and appreciate them than at the Wheeler Wildlife Visitor Center in Decatur during the Crane Festival. We will gather at the main building at the visitor center on Saturday, January 10th at 9:30 am to walk trails, take pictures and welcome the cranes back to the refuge.
Afterwards we will meet for lunch at Bob Gibson’s BBQ on Danville Rd. at around 11:30.
It should be a great start to the new year! See you there!

Hello Holy Hikers,
We are excited to add some local history to our hike this month with a visit to the historical Crabb Stewart Key Dotson home located in Morgan county!
Located at 1004 Nat Key Road in Hartselle, it was purchased in 2015 by Robert and Janice Dotson who hoped to properly restore and preserve the home and surrounding property. They soon began traveling their own winding path through the home’s history and were surprised to learn it played a significant role in the early history of Morgan County. As a result, the Crabb Stewart Key Dotson home was added to the Alabama Registry of Landmarks and Heritage in 2018.
The Dotsons love to share the stories they have uncovered about their home and have graciously agreed to have us on Saturday, December 13, at 10am to share them with us! So if you are a history buff and love to explore the past as well as the forests we love join us Saturday, December 13th, 10am, at 1004 Nat Key Road. It should be an amazing morning!

Hope to see you there!

Hello hikers!
October is here and it’s a great time to get out doors with friends and family! Please consider joining us Saturday, October 11 as we visit an old favorite: trail 200 in the Sipsey Wilderness!
Come with appropriate footwear to hike/walk in, water, snacks and bug spray, sunscreen etc if needed.
We will meet at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 9am for those who would like to carpool or caravan to the Sipsey rec. site. Before reaching the forest we will stop at Warrior Trading Post in Moulton, for those who would like to join us there around 9:40.
This hike is easy to moderate and a terrific place to bring children to explore the rock overhangs and small streams and waterfalls— so bring ‘em! Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash. This a nice place to be on an October Morning !

Hope to see you there! -Barbara&Bobby

Hello Holy Hikers!
Fall is almost here with cooler temperatures and with that great hiking weather!🥾 September is still a little unpredictable for hot days though, so we have planned for that possibility. September’s holy hike will take place at the Oakville Indian Mounds Museum and Park located in Danville, AL. Located at 1219 County Rd 187, Danville, this excellent museum houses displays and historical information on the indigenous peoples of north Alabama. The trails through the park are shaded and peaceful and located by a lake and historical indian mounds.
We will plan to meet at the museum at 10 am on Saturday, September 20th to enjoy our first meeting of the year. Please join us, all are welcome!🌿🐿️🪲
