Take time today to pray as a family—talk and listen to God. Pray these four things:

1. Thank God that He made you to know, love, and trust Him.

2. Ask God to help you know that He is holy, never changes, is both just and kind, and that He is wise.

3. Pray for one another.

4. Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they would know, love, and follow God, experiencing a personal relationship with Him.

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them:

What are different ways kids respond when they are not sure what to do?

What is the difference between turning to God for wisdom and trying to figure things out on your own?

In Daniel 2:1-30, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had a dream and searched for someone to both tell him the dream and interpret it. Daniel and his friends knew that only God was wise enough to do what the king asked. They prayed, and God worked through Daniel to tell and interpret the dream. We can turn to God and trust what He says because God is wise. When faced with decisions this week, pray with your kids. In all things, we can trust God’s wisdom.

Grab a coin and your family for this fun, fast, easy game. Assign each person in your family either “heads” or “tails,” making sure there is an even number of each. Flip a coin and call out what side you think it will land on—either heads or tails. When you call an assigned name, those people will hurry to tag the others before they reach a designated “safe place,” such as a wall or a certain room. Assign the safe place and play multiple rounds. Talk about how, even though we could never know if the coin would land on heads and tails, we can always know that God is both just and kind. Like two different side of a coin make up the whole coin, God is equally just and kind.

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them:

Why doesn’t it seem like things are always fair?

How can remembering that God is always both just and fair help in those situations?

In Genesis 6–9:17, God told a man named Noah that He would send a flood to cover the earth and punish sin. But God promised to rescue Noah, Noah’s family, and many animals who would be safe on a large boat called an ark. This showed that God is both just (always does what is right) and kind. Kids learned that God is just to punish our sin, but He is also kind to send Jesus to rescue us from sin. When your kids grow frustrated when they feel like something is unfair, remind them of the justice and kindness God shows us through Jesus.

What is something you know a lot about?

Maybe you are a big history buff or maybe you know how to make amazing meals. When we are passionate about something, we love learning about it. God calls us to learn about and know Him. This is not because He needs attention. We need to know Him because He is the One who made us, and in Him, we find the best way to live.

What does it look like for you to grow in knowing God?

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them:

Even though things are different now than they were in the Bible, do you think God is different?

Our Bible story this week combines moments from multiple stories about different people: Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Kids learned that God is faithful to keep His promises, and He never changes. We can trust God and know everything about Him is true because God never changes. When you stop at red lights, say, “God never changes!” each time the lights turn green. Know that, even though things around us change, God never does.

Invite your family to give you different songs to add to a family playlist. Play the songs and have a dance party! Challenge your family to guess who added which songs and talk about what makes each song different. Remind them that God is holy, which means He is special and different than anyone or anything. We can live our lives in ways that show we are special and different because we love and follow God.
