Dayton Women in the Word is a non-profit women's ministry serving Dayton, OH and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to purposefully present women with the Word of God; giving them the encouragement to behold it, the tools to understand it and the training to share it.

What is the Discovery Bible Method?

This is an evangelistic approach to studying the Bible with new or future believers that we use at our St. Vincent’s Bible Study. It helps us take a passage and ask key questions to better understand it for believers of all stages. Learn more about this study tool at Open Bible Night next week!

WEEK 1: New Creation | 2 Corinthians 5:14–21

In our first week of the Fall 2026 St. V’s Bible Study, we will be going through the truth that we are a brand new person in Christ; the old is gone.

Please pray with us for the guests at St. Vincent’s, both those who attend the study and those that don’t, that they hold onto the truth that we are made new because of Jesus.

Ever wish you had a way to share the Bible that wasn’t intimidating?

Have you ever wanted to open the Bible with someone new to Christ or someone who might be curious about Jesus?

The Discovery Bible Method is a simple, evangelistic way of opening the Word in just these types of scenarios. It follows a few basic questions, and helps you share the Bible in a non-threatening way.

DWITW uses this method to lead a Bible Study at St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter. We invite you to come learn the method so that you can disciple someone in your life, or begin a group in your area of influence.

St. Vincent’s Bible Study is starting its Fall Session in just a couple of weeks, and we want to invite you to join us as we look at our identity in Christ with the guests of the St. Vincent Homeless Shelter!

The study is 8 weeks long on Thursdays from 12:00 - 2:30pm beginning September 10.

How can you get involved?
- PRAY! For us and the guests of the St. Vincent Homeless Shelter
- Join us at the volunteer training this Thursday
- Volunteer during the study
- Provide a snack or water bottles

Our fall season of Open Bible Night is in full swing, as we kicked off with a new Discipleship & Teaching Panel, hosted by Parkview Church in Miamisburg. This workshop was especially planned to encourage and equip women who currently lead and serve in women’s ministry, as well as those who may be considering this call.

34 women gathered to enjoy two panel discussions addressing women’s ministry leadership topics like discipleship, content, and teaching. Our six panelists represented several different churches, as well as seasons and contexts of ministry. It was wonderful to see many women in attendance who work and serve in local fellowships and ministries and to see the fellowship and connections amongst them.

There were also several first time Open Bible Night attendees, as well! It was an encouraging evening that blessed a lot of area ladies. A big thank you to Lee-Ann McKay, Raelene Searle, Erin Shaw, Joy Bannen, Natalie Herr, and Jillian Vincent for sitting on our panels and sharing their wisdom and experience, and of course to Parkview Church for graciously hosting us.

Join us next month at Hillside Chapel in Beavercreek as we practice the Discovery Bible Method and highlight our Bible study for ladies at St. Vincent’s homeless shelter.
