Day 8-9: Holcombs to Honduras

Day 8: Yesterday was our long bus drive back (10 hours) to El Progreso to stay over night before catching our flight.

It was the first and only day of rain. Mr. Casey the bus driver and I became good friends. He gave Will Jr. and I fresh coconut on the way back.

Last night we had communion as a group to remember all that Jesus has done for us and in rememberance of Him. It was a special time and then all 23 of us prayed for individuals that we were thankful for that God allowed for us to meet during our trip.

For me: Pastor Ivan and Casey. then Valencia and Jamie from La Colonial village. Alber and Eddie from Puerta Castilla and then Daniel and Nelson who worked at our hotel.

For Isa: Andrea and girls from both Puerta Castilla and La Colonial.

Day 9: today thanks be to God that we all made it through customs and are waiting for our flight. Please be praying as we are waiting due to Pilot shortages. We will most likely spend the night in Miami and then fly out tomorrow morning for Atlanta. Please pray that all goes well.

Thank you for your prayers. God has ordered our steps each time their have been obstacles. We know that all will work out for His good.

In Christ,
dh

Day 7: Holcombs to Honduras

We went to La Colonial for VBS- Day #3 in the small community. It went really well and the local school teachers were so thankful for the supplies our team brought them to use.

The lesson was based on Christ the King and crowns were made by each of the children.

Later in the afternoon, Pastor Ivan was able to get us into the Honduran Naval Base. During our time there, Jose Beaton shared his testimony along with William Commins and Zack Sampley. Then I was able to give a karate demonstration and share self-defense that is practical for military. In addition, I used the idea of training in the military, training in martial arts, and studying God’s word as ways to build a strong physicial and spiritual foundation.

We returned back to the church and said our good-byes to the youth. It is hard to believe that this mission trip is coming to a close. Please continue to pray for the health of our team as we head back.

thank you so much for all your prayers! We have felt them. Blessings!

Day 5-6: Holcombs to Honduras

New year’s Eve and Day we had a great service and today of celebration. The pastor let me give the message. I spoke on discipleship and the importance of men and women of the church standing up! We should all be a Paul-Barnabas-Timothy.

The church people of Honduras dress up for New Years. We enjoyed doing that and Isa and I had a great time.

Then we had a church service and VBS today.
It was superhero day and Isa did a Great job.

On New Years, we couldn’t leave the hotel. So for $12 each we were able to take a boat and a go for a ride and then hold starfish. It was fun.
Not sure if the starfish liked it.😂🙌

This has been such a rich time for Isa and me. I am so thankful!!

Tomorrow: We are excited to go to do ministry in the small community again for VBS - Day #3 and then a few of us will speak and minister to the local cadets on the Honduran military base.

Please continue to pray for us, we feel your prayers daily!

Day 4: Holcombs to Honduras

We started with VBS-Day #2 and it went so well. Our youth did a teaching skit concerning the lost sheep and Shepard who cares enough to find the one lost one and carry the sheep back to safety, just as Christ cares for each of us!!

Many worked on building the stairs to the second level of the church
that was constructed the last time the team was in Puerta Castilla.

We played soccer in the afternoon and prepared for the New Year’s worship.

Isa and I had dinner at the hotel and we dressed up for the church service. We will be worshiping as 2022 starts!🙌🙌🙏🏻🙏🏻

What a beautiful way to start the year. We will not be with Diana and Asia, but they are with us in spirit!

Happy New Year and may God richly bless each day you wake up in 2022. We pray that you allow Christ to dwell deep in your soul!
