"For I am in a straight betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better;” (Philippians 1:23) Paul had just written about his problem “to live is Christ, and to die is gain. He then goes on to say in our verse to be with Christ is far better. Paul was torn between two worlds His desire was to be with the Lord in Heaven. He also knew there was still much work to be done before His life’s work was complete. Maybe you like Paul know that Heaven is far better, but there is still so much to do! There are so many who are not saved, so many who need to hear the message, “Jesus Saves, Jesus Saves.” There was a Southern Gospel song we used to sing, that was written to encourage us until that time comes. “Heaven’s sounding sweeter all the time, seems like lately it’s always on my mind. Someday I’ll leave this world behind! Heaven’s sounding sweeter all the time!” Praying you all have a blessed Wednesday!

"My Lord, and My God!” (John 20:26) Can a person who believes in Jesus ever doubt their faith? In our verse for today Thomas had been a doubter. He had heard of Jesus resurrection and yet he said.” Unless I see the scars in Jesus hands and feet I will not believe.” Jesus now stood before the disciples in the upper room. He did not rebuke Thomas He lovingly said “Thomas feel My hands touch the scar in My side and believe!” Thomas cried out “My Lord and My God!” We may have doubts from time to time, but doubt need not be permanent. The Closer we are to the Lord in our relationship the less likely we are to doubt. Why not renew your faith as you allow God to draw you closer to Him! “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on let me stand – I am tired, I am weak, I am worn; Thro’ the storm, thro’ the night, lead me on to the light – take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home. When my way grows drear, Precious Lord, linger near – when my life is almost gone; hear my cry, hear my call, hold my hand lest I fall – take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.” Praying you all have a blessed Tuesday!

“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you may answer each one.” (Col. 4:6) As Christians our words should always be gracious, that is, we need to put kindness and love behind what we say. It seems to me at least, there is way too much hateful angry speech going around, especially in today’s world. I remember when we were growing up we had a saying that said, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me,” Well I think we all have learned that is not true. Words can hurt. They can cut us to the very depths of our being. My Mom used to say, “If you can’t say something good about someone don’t say anything at all.” I think Jesus would agree with that. As Christians our words should be like salt, pure, antiseptic, and penetrating. Speaking the truth in Love is what Paul said. I believe our world would be a better place if we would try that. Think about the words to this song for a moment. “Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, and have not love, my words are vain; as sounding brass, and hopeless gain.” Praying you all have a blessed Monday!

"Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11) Psalm 119 gives us some good instructions on how to follow God. We begin by hiding God’s Word in our hearts. Then when temptations come we can see them for what they are more easily. Also as we meditate on God’s Word we get to know Him better and this helps us to be able to hear His voice as He guides us and instructs us. Perhaps it has been a while since you have read or studied God’s word. Today is a good day to come together with your friends and Church Family to Worship and study His Word. The Psalmist also wrote, “I was glad when they said to me Let us go up to the House of the Lord.” “Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life; let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life. Words of life and beauty, teach me faith and duty; beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life; beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.” Praying you all have a Blessed Lord’s Day!

"Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the Living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.”(2 Cor. 3:3) God has given us the greatest treasure we could ever have, His Word. It is a love letter as it were, from Him to us. But listen, we as His people are also living letters from God to the world. Written by His Spirit that is living in us, so the world will know that He is real and He is living. The world needs to know He can do the same for them as He has done for us. So what does your letter to the world look like? We might each ask ourselves this question. Can the world see Jesus in me? “While passing through this world of sin, and others your life shall view, be clean and pure without, within, let others see Jesus in you. Let others see Jesus in you, let others see Jesus in you; keep telling the story, be faithful and true, let others see Jesus in you.” Praying you all have a blessed Saturday!

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handy work.” (Psalm 19:1) I just love to go out at night, and look at the night sky to see all of the wonders and beauty of the stars. Science tells us there are literally100’s of millions of galaxies out there. Each galaxy has millions of stars and even more galaxies are being discovered all the time. The Lord is so much greater than even the universe He created! Our minds just cannot grasp His greatness. Yet the Lord is also able to live in your heart and mine! The Bible also tells us God has made a way for us to know Him through His only begotten Son Jesus! Praise the Lord! When we believe in Jesus our lives can join all of creation in declaring His glory! “Oh, Lord my God, when I,in awesome, wonder, consider all the worlds Thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed, Then sings my soul; My Savior God to Thee. How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings my soul! My Savior God to Thee! How great Thou art! How Great Thou art!” Praying you all have a blessed Friday!

“I spread out my hands to You; my soul longs for you like a thirsty land.” (Psalm 143:6) I have come to understand that God’s goodness is often found in the dry and difficult places. I often wonder, how many times do we fail to see His goodness because we are too comfortable? Sometimes God’s blessings are seen much more clearly when we are tired and thirsty. I’m reminded of the woman at the well. Jesus told her, if you drink of the water that I give, you will never thirst again. Jesus is the only source that can truly satisfy a thirsty soul. I pray that we may always be thirsty for Him. “Come ye sinners, poor and needy, weak and wounded, sick and sore; Jesus ready stands to save you, full of pity, love and power. Come ye thirsty, come and welcome, God’s free bounty glorify; true belief and true repentance, every grace that brings you nigh. I will arise and go to Jesus, He will embrace me in His arms; in the arms of my dear Savior, O, there are ten thousand charms.” Praying you all have a Blessed Thursday!

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.” (Isaiah 41:10) No matter what the situation in your life, always remember That God is with you! This is one of His precious promises to us. God spends a lot of time reminding us of this. So whom shall I fear? God says don’t be afraid, I am with you! Don’t be confused by fear or paralyzed by it. Why? Because He is with you! He promised He would never leave you nor forsake you. “I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses; and the voice I hear falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses. And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own, and the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.” Praying you all have a blessed Wednesday!

“After that He was seen by over 500 brethern at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.” (1 Corinthians 15:6) What a grand and glorious thought! The good news of the gospel story is not a myth or a legend but is a verified historical fact. It is part of the greatest story ever told! And we as believers, know Jesus is alive! In chapter 15 Paul gives us a list of eyewitnesses and then he says not only that, Jesus was seen by more than 500 witnesses and most of them are still living! The death and resurrection of Jesus is not a myth. It even divides a point in our world history, B.C. and A. D. Praise God! Because He lives, we who believe, He is who He says He is, will live forever too! “God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus. He came to love, heal and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Because He lives I can face tomorrow; because He lives all fear is gone; because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives. ”Praying you all have a blessed Tuesday!

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) Today we live in such a “me” centered world. It is like, “What’s in it for me?” “What do I get out of this?” I want this. I want that. Some Christians seem to have forgotten the very reason we do what we do as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. If we forget, we become like the disciples who argued over which disciple was most important. If our goal is to become like Jesus, then our path is to love one another and even be willing to sacrifice for each other. A wise person once said, “Keep your eyes on the Lord, and you won’t lose sight of life’s purpose.” Hmmmm! “O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, and life more abundant and free! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” Praying you all have a blessed Monday!
