Be Still And Know

When you read the Bible without taking the time to study it, it seems to contain several contradictions. And the people who do not want you to enjoy the benefits of studying your Bible have made much of those so-called contradictions. Take this one, for instance. Psalm 46.10 tells us to, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”...

And All These Things

Fancy starting a topic with the word “And.” It is a deliberate act to signal that we will be making a big shift. By now, you know that every promise of God, even salvation, has a trigger. This is a shift from the “if” to the “and” trigger. Moving away from the “if” trigger, we are now in the series of the “and” trigger, as in, “you will do this and God will do that.” The trigger we want to consider in this post is in Matthew 6.33....

God’s Positioning System

You know about the technical GPS, regularly use it to find your way around, and let it take you home. That last part is my favorite use for the GPS, aka the Global Positioning System. Call Upon God In Truth

In the Bible, there is this concept of praying amiss that I wish all prayer warriors would become familiar with. Why? Because all that time spent in prayer and night vigils might be wasted if they are praying in a way that God does not accept. When we pray, we have to call upon God in truth. This is how Psalm 145.18 puts it....

Whatever You Want

Jesus had some strange teachings, one of which is to turn the other cheek when someone slaps your face. He also wanted us to love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves. Of course, that meant you had to know how to love yourself, which is not as easy as it sounds. We could go on and on, but we want to focus on doing to others whatever we want them to do to you....

A Taste Of Heaven

Some pastors enjoy praying from passages that contain God’s promises for a later time, as a taste of heaven. Take the sweet promises in Isaiah 65:24, for example. It says, “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer. And, while they are still speaking, I will hear.” That is a promise of God that we often claim in our mission, yet even after we call, it seems God does not answer....

God has a great product and can therefore give every believer a taste of heaven as a free sample of what Heaven will be when we arrive.

The Power That Works In You

We saw a couple of equations in the Bible, built on the word “as.” One says, “You will prosper as your soul prospers.” But the Bible contains other equations that do not carry that particular word, but focus on the word “according.” Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus is loaded with such formulas, one of which we consider here. It says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”...

God can do exceedingly abundantly above what we can think, according to the power that works in you. What power works in you?
