North Texas Conference Black Methodist for Church Renewal UMC

North Texas Conference Black Methodist for Church Renewal UMC To expose latent and overt forms of racism in all local, regional, and agencies and institutions of The United Methodist Church.

OUR PURPOSE
To empower Black Methodists for effective witness and service among pastors, laity in local churches, conferences, schools, and the larger community
To encourage and involve Black Methodists and others in the struggle for economic and social justice. To act as an agitating conscience on all boards and agencies of The United Methodist Church in order to keep them sensitive to the needs

and expressions of a “genuinely”inclusive and relevant Church. To keep before the Church the crucial issues facing us by initiating action and supporting Church agencies which realistically deal with the needs of Black people; i.e., issues spelled out in “The Findings of Black Methodists for Church Renewal”and the other occasional documents adopted by BMCR. To initiate, develop, and implement strategies and instruments for the development, maintenance, and growth of strong Black local churches. We, the people called Black Methodists for Church Renewal, Inc., created in the image of God, confess our Faith in a living and just God. We call ourselves and the entire United Methodist Church to repentance, to rebuild God's Church as a community of faith, to declare the traditions and stories of the Bible and Black culture, to reclaim the black community and to liberate all people from racism and injustice everywhere.

Our prayers are with our Arkansas sisters and brothers 🙏🏽

It is with an extreme heavy heart that Theressa Hoover Memorial United Methodist Church announce the loss of our Founder. A great caring and loving man and of great stature is no longer here with us on earth. Rev. Dr. William H. Robinson Jr., our preacher, our Founder, left us this morning to be with the Lord. He was still doing God's work at the age of 91. We ask for the prayers for his beautiful family, for this church congregation and Better Community Development, Inc. as we move forward with the legacy that he has built in saving lives, building and restoring communities. We will share the information of the homegoing celebration soon. One of his grandsons, Darryl Tate Swinton quoted the best scripture- Matthew 25:23. WELL DONE PAW-PAW!! We love you! And we thank you!!

The delegates voted to delete mandatory penalties for conducting same-sex marriages and to remove their denomination’s bans on considering LGBTQ candidates for ministry and on funding for gay-friendly ministries.

The 667-54 vote, coming during their legislative General Conference, removes some of the scaffolding around the United Methodist Church’s longstanding bans on LGBTQ-affirming policies regarding ordination, marriage and funding.

Still to come later this week are votes on the core of the bans on LGBTQ clergy and same-sex marriage in church law and policy, which may draw more debate. However, the large majority achieved by Tuesday’s votes indicate the tenor of the General Conference. The consensus was so overwhelming that these items were rolled into the legislative “consent calendar,” normally reserved for non-controversial measures.

United Methodist delegates have begun making historic policy changes on sexuality, voting without debate to reverse a series of anti-LGBTQ policies.
