Color Splash Out

Color Splash Out The Color Splash Out is a 501.C3 Non-Profit organization dedicated in creating a safe and brave space for LGBTQ+ Young people and their ally friends.

Vision: Color Splash Out(CSP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating brave and safe spaces that build resilience, a sense of belonging, and enhance self-esteem for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning young people and allies ages twelve (12) to eighteen (18) years old. Color Splash Out groups are divided by Middle School and High School. Color Splash Out ™ mission

is to create opportunities for teens to thrive by hosting events, camping trips, summer camps and retreats. We accomplish this by creating events where teens can play sports, outdoor and indoor games, age-appropriate interactive workshops, leadership opportunities, and opportunities to participate in creative, visual, arts, science, and music.

On August 19th, we mark World Humanitarian Day: a time to honor humanitarian workers and to stand with people affected by crises around the world.

When lives are at risk, the people who come to help should never be targets. Yet humanitarian workers continue to be killed, injured, abducted, detained and obstructed while carrying out their work. Most are national staff serving their own communities.

Under international humanitarian law, civilians — including humanitarian and medical personnel — must be respected and protected. Parties to armed conflict must allow and facilitate humanitarian relief for people in need, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Attacks on humanitarian personnel have consequences far beyond the individuals directly affected. They interrupt food deliveries, health care, protection and other life-saving services, leaving communities with even fewer ways to survive and recover.

Aug 20, 2011—Chely Wright married LGBT advocate Lauren Blitzer in a private ceremony on a country estate in Connecticut by both a rabbi and a reverend.

Aug 20-22, 1976—Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival holds its first gathering.

August 21, 2014—The US District Court for the Northern District of Florida ruled the state’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional. Same-sex marriage has been legal in Florida since January 6, 2015, as a result of a ruling in Brenner v. Scott from the same court.

Back to school, Parents, Guardians, Grown-Ups!

We know sending your q***r youngling back through those school doors can come with a little extra worry.

Will they be accepted?
Will someone bully them?
Will their teachers see them?
Will they feel safe being themselves?

And sometimes the hardest part is knowing you can’t walk those hallways with them.

So here’s your reminder: you are not alone either.

Be their safe place. Listen. Ask questions. Advocate when you need to. And remind them over and over that home should always be a place where they don’t have to earn belonging.

And when you need somebody in your corner, remember your Color Splash Out familia is here too. We got you.

They belong. They matter.
And parents, Guardians, Grandparents, fans of q***r youth—you got this, because we got you too.

Now drink some water, breathe, and try not to text them 47 times before lunch because they SHOULD not have their phone…. :)

As you walk back through those school doors, remember:
Be brave. Be kind. Take up space. OR not….Be YOU—loudly or quietly, whatever feels right.

And when it feels like you’re the only one… you are NOT alone. Your Color Splash Out familia is still right here cheering you on. We got you..

The United Nations’ (UN) International Day of the World's Indigenous People is observed on August 9 each year to promote and protect the rights of the world’s Indigenous population. Also known as World Tribal Day, this event also recognizes the achievements and contributions that Indigenous people make to improve world issues such as environmental protection.
