Is cheaper better?

When a good contractor gets beat out by someone who can do it cheaper it doesn’t mean they found someone better. It means they found someone that is saving money. Which usually means cutting corners.

Here are corners roofers cut when the say I can do it cheaper.

1. Reuse of roof items like vents and pipe jacks. Many which are cracked which will cause leaking.

2. Leaving the felt on. When you leave the felt you ignore any decking issues. And rotten decking spreads.

3. Lack of transparency. Most of those contractors won’t explain what they’re actually working in and just take your money.

When it comes to your home, do your homework.

Not all roofing companies are created equal.

When you’re looking at A Roof roofing company make sure that you do your due diligence.

Look for a good track record. Check their good reviews.

Ask what products they use. Many roofing companies give you the bare minimum with no extras

And last ask how quickly they respond to the labor warranty. Remember, it’s not about how long the labor warranty is, but how fast they respond to it. Most warranty issues happen within the first year of A Roof.

Does this actually happen?

Absolutely

Thankfully, this has never happened to me and our company has put safeguards in place to make sure this doesn’t happen.

But I do know somebody that this actually happened to. They finished the roof and realized it was the wrong color. Thankfully, the homeowner liked that color better than the original color they picked. Everything worked out but most situations the company would be on the hook to replace the whole roof with the color that was requested.

If you are in the roofing industry, make sure that you have multiple layers of protection set up to make sure this doesn’t happen.

You can also get a text confirmation from your homeowners for another layer of documentation.

Last, have someone in the office go over all the orders to make sure they line up.
