Susan Potter for Plumsted BOE

Susan Potter for Plumsted BOE Elect Susan Potter to the Plumsted BOE My family and I have lived in Cream Ridge for 11 years in which I have been heavily involved in the Community.

My daughter graduated NEHS in 2016 and is attending OCC in the Arts background and my son is in 12th grade. Both my children are very involved with the Arts as they both play multiple instruments, such as electric, acoustic & bass guitar, ukulele, drums and cajon (a wooden box you sit on and play as a drum) and most of them self taught. My son is currently job shadowing the NEHS music teacher ass

isting special education students in playing musical instruments. I have recently become personally aware of Learning Disabilities with a family member and the difficulty that surrounds him with his learning experiences. Since he was diagnosed at such a late age, I have taken a personal and professional interest in addressing what I can do as a Board Member to open a dialog with the school system and put in place some resources that haven't been there in the past. I have been a member of all PTO's associated within the District for a span of 10 years. I have been instrumental in raising money for the children of this District and spent many nights away from my family organizing fundraisers for the NEPS/WES PTO. Even after my children left the Elementary School, I continued to work with the wonderful ladies of that PTO running fundraisers. In the 8 years that I spent on this PTO, I raised well over $125,000 for the students and teachers of the Primary and Elementary Schools, which consisted of the Race for Education, Book Fairs, Family Nights and many different types of fundraisers. I also was a member of the NEMS PTO doing fundraisers and running Book Fairs. I even found time to help out the NEHS PTO run fundraisers for the students. I have also been involved with Troop 9 New Egypt Boy Scouts serving as the Committee Chair for three years and presently a Committee Member. My husband has been the Scoutmaster of Troop 9 for over 6 years and during that time, the Troop has had the honor of having 8 Scouts reach the level of Eagle Scout and many projects have been community related to include; The War Memorial and handicap rails at The American Legion, The Recreation Field sign and the Rec Field playground, the United Methodist Church patio, the Prayer Garden at the Church of Assumption, the Food Pantry at the Presbyterian Church and Oakford Lake. Since I have been involved in the Troop, I have been a part of the Scouting for Food event every year that provides donated food to the Food Pantry at the Presbyterian Church. We have also been involved in multiple flag ceremonies at Jensens Deep Run and Township run events. While serving on the Board over the past 3 years, I believe that my experience with this community and forward-thinking has been an asset to the Board. My love for the students and staff of this District compels me the ensure this District has the best schools for everyone involved.
