We are excited to have Daniel Burkeen II with us as he shares about his recent mission trip to Japan. At the end of the service, we will receive a love offering to help support his future mission work, so please come prepared to give as the Lord leads.

Devotion June 21, 2026

Joy Comes from Trusting God!

“17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls,

18 yet I will celebrate in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

19 The Lord my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights!” (Habakkuk 3:17–19, CSB)

Everyone is looking for joy and happiness. We can learn from Habakkuk where true joy comes from. Habakkuk learned that he could trust God, and that trust brought him true joy. We, too, can experience true joy by trusting not in our circumstances, but in God!

“5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.

7 Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

8 This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones.

9 Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest;

10 then your barns will be completely filled, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

11 Do not despise the Lord’s instruction, my son, and do not loathe his discipline;

12 for the Lord disciplines the one he loves, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.” (Proverbs 3:5–12, CSB)

“20 But the Lord is in his holy temple; let the whole earth be silent in his presence.” (Habakkuk 2:20 CSB)

God is on the throne! It may not always seem like we, as Christians, are winning, but we are! The God of the universe is seated on the throne, and the world cannot do anything about it! God is not inactive; He is patient. God is not uncaring; He is gracious and merciful. God rules and reigns above all! He is all-powerful and all-knowing!

When it seems like we are losing, remember that God is in control, and He promises that all things work together for our good if we are His.

“28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 CSB)
