If this doesn't sound like a quiz trip ...

Five thirty in the morning in a church parking lot, and about fourteen teenagers are loading into a van that has been on its last leg since 2011. 🚐 Nobody has slept. Somebody forgot a pillow. Somebody's mother is standing in the cold handing a bag of snacks through the window that will not last past the first hour.

That van has hauled kids to camp, to youth rallies, to work weekends in a town four hours away, and to a funeral in the next county. It has broken down at least twice in memorable fashion, and both of those stories get told every single year. The man with the clipboard has been driving it since before most of these kids were born, and he does it for nothing, on his vacation days. ⭐

The kids will complain about the seats, sleep on each other, sing far too loudly somewhere around Waco, and remember that trip for the rest of their lives. Half of what they know about their own faith they figured out in that van. Do you remember the church van from growing up?

The South Texas Quizzing district kick off took place August 22, 2026.

Heart of Texas Bible Quizzing was represented by 18 quizzers (4 teams). We were excited to see new quizzers from Waco and to see the team from Celebrate Life in Katy grow! So, besides our 18, there were 11 other quizzers representing 3 other churches!

I am proud of all of our quizzers... We had 2 brand new quizzers, Xander and Gracelynn and both successfully got a first jump at a quiz meet!!! Our returning quizzers made us proud getting jumps and picking up bonuses. Our Heart of Texas X-men came in first place.

Individually, Heart of Texas quizzers Chase, Sarah and Zoe tied for first, each quizzing out every round with only one error all day. Ainsley from Georgetown came after them quizzing out every round but with more errors. Then came Heart of Texas quizzers Michaela and Sophia. I should note that both Sarah and Sophia are second year quizzers and Sarah is only in 6th grade!!!

I'm excited to see what the year holds!!!

I think this is my favorite quizzing news so far... The video features the smarties and dum dum game which was invented specifically for Heart of Texas Bible Quizzing and the girls bursting into song due to technical difficulties 😂😂😂
