Thank you to everyone who had a part in the 2025 Scouting for Food food drive to Benefit Betty Lou's Pantry.
It started with our local Giant grocery store donating 10000 paper bags to which the scouts stapled a flyer to - 10000 bags!! Two weeks ago parents and scouts drove around dropping them off at our houses ( I know some of you did not get a bag - my apologies ) Then the Southern Lehigh Community turned it on by donating a record 32,832 pounds, shattering our previous record of 26,719 during Covid. Donations continue to roll in so we will exceed 33,000 when it's all said and done. THANK YOU SOUTHERN LEHIGH. Betty Lou's Pantry is blessed to have such a super generous community. You guys rock.
Now onto the scouts, their parents and Matt and Amanda who have coordinated this for as long as I can remember. Betty Lou's Pantry can't thank you enough. We were blessed with a rain free day to start with. Cars drove around to pickup all the bags and bring them back to the pantry where they were unloaded, put on wagons, weighed, sorted into 700+ banana boxes, labeled and stacked in the shed. Then the clean up started. A 20' Uhaul was filled with paper bags and cardboard and taken to recycling. All the tables and tents came down, cones and barricades packed up, trash picked up and by 3:30, you could hardly tell there was an event there.
Special thanks too to Dan and Frank for manning the shed all day, to Beth and Tripp for helping some of the patrons who came and for buying 12 pizzas and serving lunch, to Scott for letting us tap off your electric, to Mark and Chuck for making a last minute run for more banana boxes and to the countless others who pitched and get er done.
I didn't count how many people helped but it had to be well over 100. WHAT AN AMAZING DAY. THANK YOU ALL.
