Our time is truly in Gods hand!
What if we could see from the eyes of eternity? Or view this life from the perspective of the Kingdom of Heaven? Or could we step outside of time, to view ourselves, our lives and our actions?
“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.”
Daniel 2:21-22
Beloved did you know that every thing that we pass through is in Gods timing?
He knows just the right amount of time and pressure that it takes to cause the seed of an apple, grape or a pineapple to break forth with a stem to reach towards the surface of the soil through the nutrients and vitamins of the soil, rain and the sun.
Likewise, with us, God knows as well the amount of time and pressure it takes to cause the seed of the word of God within us to begin to burst forth with the vegetation and then the fruit.
In Hebrews 11:3 “ Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
The word “worlds” in this verse, gives a picture of a set time, a course -an age, also meaning a period of time.
Then he continues and says hrough faith, we understand a set time for a course or an age to be accomplished and are “framed” by the word of God! “Framed” means: ethically: to strengthen, perfect, complete, make one what he ought to be, equip, put in order, arrange, adjust, to fit or frame for one's self, prepare.
There is a set time in all of our lives a work -that God gives us to do in each season- that is what he wants to accomplish “IN US” and “THROUGH US”. He cannot accomplish “THROUGH US” until he accomplishes “IN US”.
No season lasts forever right? Each season God has brought in our life the right people, places and opportunities for us to grow.
For example, last semester I had a “clinical supervisor” who was abusing his authority, and very abusive towards us - supervisees (Psychology interns). In that season God revealed his will. While this man seemed to trigger or rub me continuously in the wrong way, I ended up becoming sharper in my love walk, my discernment and my clinical experience was deeply rooted.
Why? It was the PRESSURE AND TIME that caused Gods word to begin bearing fruit in my life, in new way. Was it comfortable? No. I had to report him because he was breaking ethical standards in Psychology. This caused friction and because he knew I had reported him there was a chance / threat of him to further his abuse by failing me. So in the process, thoughts like, “just quit- you will fail anyway” would harass my mind. I knew in my heart that I was doing the right thing.
I had a sense of knowing that God had allowed this very season for this very purpose! The scripture says that iron sharpening iron. This man’s lack of ethical boundaries pushed me deeper into Psychology and Research -while at the same time because I reported him hopefully this will cause him to pray and seek the Lord about how he is conducting himself, to enable him to be a more effective psychologist as well .
The work that the Holy Spirit was doing in both of us, because I was praying for him as well -was to sharpen both of us. I don’t believe that God has to work this way in our lives, that is to pass through adversity for growth,
But because we live in a fallen world, and we have a fallen sin nature, we tend to get stuck in cycles of the enemy. God will allow season changes and adversity to cause us to come out of those cycles so that we can bear fruit for the kingdom of heaven.
Why? Adversity for the believer causes us to seek the Lord. Adversity shows us our need for him. Adversity helps us to grow and adversity also prunes us for more growth. John chapter 15. Jesus gives a great example that he is the vine and his father is the gardener. Just like vines of different types like grapes only grow in certain seasons, the vine of Christ that we are to remain connected to through our study in our obedience will be pruned so that we can bear more fruit. Because God wants us to grow in our love, walk, he wants us to bear, patience, and long suffering, amongst other fruits of the spirit like self-control.
The cycles or patterns of this world that we begin to pattern, our self after are not after the will of God Nor of the fruits of the Spirit . These cycles, the scripture talks about or patterns are under the domain of the prince of the power of the air, which is Satan.
The enemy works in cycles, but God wants us to be led by the spirit of God. So in every season and in every adversity is meant to help us to pursue after the spirit of God, and not maintain the cycle or comfort, but to pursue his will. Jesus taught the disciples to pray “our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven”.
Our prayer for God’s will should be our daily prayer! This should be our hearts pursuit is to do the will of God. And his will is for the whole creation to know him, and that we would grow in the fullness of the stature of Christ.
Adversities and seasons are in God‘s hands. The problem that we face is that when God is in the process of shifting our season, we either want to move too quickly ahead of him or we want to remain in the season we’re in. The season we’re in now currently will become an old season and not have any benefit for our growth any longer
This is why we must move with God, not conforming ourselves to the pattern of this world, but being transformed by the renewing of our mind into the image of Christ.
Beloved, I pray that we will seek God‘s face to do God‘s will, and to know that the seasons and times are in his hands. Because our course, time our set appointment is purposed in him and when we don’t move with him, and we don’t follow him through the word of God, it causes a lot of warfare and more adversity. If we will just submit ourselves unto the Father and know that the reason he’s changing our time and our season is for our growth and for the growth of our loved ones.
Father help us to let go of what we think we want in this life, to pick up the beauty of what you have already given us in Christ before the foundation of the world. Help us to love you more than anything in this world in Jesus name.
