President Ballard will be deeply missed!

We are saddened to announce that President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has died. After a recent brief hospital stay, he returned to his home where he attended to duties as he was able to before passing away at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was 95.

President Ballard is survived by his seven children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His wife, Barbara, died on October 1, 2018, at age 86.

President Ballard became an Apostle on October 6, 1985. He was announced as Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on January 16, 2018.

As a young man, Pres. Ballard served a mission to England. In 1974, he was called as president of the Canada Toronto Mission, where he was serving when called to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1976. He served as a member of the Presidency of the Seventy from 1980 to 1985.

Prior to his call as a full-time Church leader, President Ballard had interests in the automotive, real estate and investment businesses.

We are happy to welcome Sister Andrea McConkie to the Relief Society Multi-Stake Fireside on Saturday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Ohio North Stake Center. Sister McConkie currently serves on the Relief Society General Advisory Council and has served in many organizations in the Church, as well as a full-time missionary in the Canada Halifax Mission. Please join us!

Sister Kathryn Godderidge will speak at a special Relief Society Multi-Stake Fireside on Saturday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Ohio North Stake Center. Sister Godderidge serves on the Primary General Advisory Council and has served in various organizations in the Church, and as a service missionary in the Addiction Recovery Program, and a full-time missionary in the Spain Madrid mission. We hope to see you on Saturday, October 14.

Due to a change in assignment in President Camille Johnson’s schedule, Relief Society and Primary General Advisory Council Members, Sister Andrea McConkie and Sister Kathryn Godderidge will be the speakers at the Multi-Stake Relief Society Fireside on Saturday, October 14. The schedule for the fireside will remain the same! All Relief Society sisters and Young Women who are seniors in high school are invited to attend. The fireside will be held at the Columbus Ohio North Stake Center from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. All are requested to carpool and be seated by 6:15 p.m. See you there!

FIRESIDE SPEAKER UPDATE! Due to a new assignment, General Relief Society President Camille Johnson will be unable to attend the multi-stake Relief Society Fireside on October 14. We are pleased to announce that Relief Society and Primary General Advisory Council Members, Sister Andrea McConkie and Sister Kathryn Gotteridge will attend in place of President Johnson. All fireside details are the same and we are thrilled to host these sisters in central Ohio. Fireside begins at 6:30 p.m. All Relief Society sisters and young women who are seniors in high school are encouraged to attend!
