Gibbs Go

Gibbs Go We are Caleb and Charity Gibbs, ABWE missionaries to Jamaica and the Caribbean. For too long the Caribbean has been known as a place not a people.

We are Caleb and Charity Gibbs, missionaries to Jamaica and the Caribbean with ABWE, the Association for Baptists for World Evangelism. ABWE is an independent missions agency with nearly 1,000 missionaries in 60+ countries. ABWE missionaries carry out several ministries specializing in discipleship and evangelism that plants and multiplies churches who will pick up the torch of missions themselves

and launch their own global missions movements. Our purpose will be to help the church in Jamaica and the Caribbean to catch a vision to send their own into the world. By valuing these beautiful people of the Caribbean we will enliven their faith to become Christ to the world.

Just to let you all know we are still without internet and relying on a spotty data signal to do most work. We apologize for the delay of our newsletter due to this challenge.

During the days and weeks after Melissa we have collected pictures and messages to log many events. Now that we are able to start getting back on Facebook some (at least to post) I will be posting some of the stories and pictures. But I will share when they happened. This picture was from Thursday the 29th, just two days removed from the storm. We were just starting to dig through the rubble of the school where Charity helps teach and the kids attend. I found this sign in the destroyed office. It captures well the attitude we carry.

Good morning. We want to thank so many of you who signed up to pray for the seminar we had scheduled today. Unfortunately, due to so many pastors and churches still significantly affected by the hurricane, we have had to postpone the seminar until sometime in 2026. We will repost a new sign up when it is scheduled. Thank you again for being willing to pray and support the ministry.

Good evening. Only today was I able to get back on Facebook. Our family is okay and have a very busy past week or so. We have so many stories to share when we can. We will try to get an email out when we can. Charity's library was destroyed and much of the school. This week has been long gas lines, very little water and food, blocked roads. But also God's grace and great stories of God's people stepping up.

Right now all is calm and quiet in Montego Bay. But tonight will be interesting. We merely wait the exact path of the storm and trust God. To mis-quote Habakkuk sllightly, though the roof blow off and all possessions are lost, yet we will rejoice and trust God.

As we worship in church here today at Bay Life in the quiet waiting period I was struck with a thought. Around the world people go about their lives. Yet here in Jamaica almost all life has stopped and people are tense and stressed and afraid. This is how it is with each of us. We may struggle while life goes on around us oblivious to the storm. It is why Hebrews says that we have an anchor for the soul. We will hold to that anchor this week. May you as well.
