The Club is separately incorporated from the owner members and was
originally jointly owned by four Catholic societies: Saint Francis Xavier Society,
Saint Paul Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Knights of Saint John. Today, even with
five owner societies, the name of the Club remains as the 4-S Club, reflecting its
roots. The Board of Directors (three members from each organizatio
n) controls the
overall operations of the club and meets monthly to review operations. Between
meetings, a house committee, appointed by the Board of Directors, oversees the
day to day operations of the club. The Club also has a Ladies Auxiliary, a Sports Club and an Entertainment Committee. The Ladies Auxiliary is very active in scheduling events that promote camaraderie and friendship; the Sports Club sponsors various athletic teams for both men and women; and the Entertainment
Committee plans events for the benefit of both the members and the Club. Membership in the 4-S Club can be obtained by first joining one of the five
member societies. Ladies Auxiliary membership is available only to spouses of
society members. The Club does offer social memberships on a limited basis. Social members are not members of any of the societies but may frequent the
Club.
