My dear 9-year-old child (who's turning 10 this year), I reflected on another year of life and another beautiful year passing. This month marks six years since you've last seen your biological father. The list of milestones he's missed is extensive, but what's more remarkable is the incredible person you're becoming - beautiful, confident, brave, and intelligent. I told my now husband last night that it's unimaginable how someone could walk away without looking back, especially when considering the amazing person you're growing up to be. You're full of life, kindness, and a deep love for Jesus. It's crazy how much growth happens in just a couple of days with a child, let alone six years. I used to feel guilty for asking God to give us space from your biological father, but life took a dramatic turn, and he left without warning or reason. I often wonder about the questions you'll ask and the thoughts you might have about him. My prayer is that you'll find strength, not hurt, from the decisions he made. I pray that God forgives me for letting go and that he continues to protect you. I believe this journey has a purpose, and with faith, I know you'll thrive. Today, you have a stepdad who loves and cares for you deeply, who doesn't need to be asked to be a good daddy. He's mended the broken pieces and reassures me of his love for you, ensuring you'll never feel abandoned or fatherless. I've chosen to forgive and offer grace to your biological father because I know you're loved, cared for, and in good hands & my mama heart doesn’t have to worry because I know where you are & what you are doing at all times. We’ve been through a lot together baby, nothing will ever stop your light from shining no matter who is around & I will continue to protect you from all. God knows I’m doing my best to raise you to the best of my ability, but just know I will always be sorry he’s missing out on such a beautiful person.
