Remembering When……

A New Home and Family for Christmas

It was about 2 weeks away from Christmas when the brown station wagon came to pick me and my brothers up to take us to our new home and family out in the country. Our new dad and one of our new brothers hop out of the station wagon greeted us and load our belongings in the back, It took about two hours to get to our new home as we turned up the hill to the big brown house on top. We got out of the car all of the other brothers and sisters and our new mom came out to greet us as they brought us into the house we saw the biggest Christmas tree I ever saw with lots of presents, we got settled with our new family I started talking to my new mom and dad about a blanket I was promise leaving the children’s home it was a car blanket and they promised me I could have it as a parting gift every going away child got one from what I understood being so young. I must talked about that blanket a lot My mom told me to pray about it.. Two days before Christmas Dad pointed out there was a large new present under the tree for me I went and looked at it and it was BIG but I could not touch it it sat in the back where I could not get to it Finally Christmas came and all of us kids set around while dad had his coffee and mom gave gifts to him to hand out to us kids one by one gift after gift was given to me and my brothers and sisters and the house was filled with so much joy mom handed dad that one big gift and he said I wonder who this could be for as my eyes got so big and my heart pounded he handed me my gift I opened it I saw it was the one thing I ask for from the children’s home it was the car blanket not the same one it was a new one they went and bought just for me
One of the best Christmas ever……….
