Summer is full of choices.

How you spend your time.
Who you spend it with.
What gets your attention.
What shapes your heart.

Most of those decisions probably won’t feel very significant in the moment.

But they add up.

This Sunday we’re kicking off a new series called Sink or Swim? and starting with a question from 1 Corinthians 10:31:

Where are you planning to invest your time this summer?

We’ll spend time together over pizza, have discussion groups, and hear from Pastor Bill and Pastor Dave during a time of questions and prayer.

If this season has left you with questions, uncertainty, or simply a desire to grow closer to God, we’d love for you to join us.

Most of us grew up picturing Noah’s ark as a tiny wooden boat from a children’s picture Bible.

Cute animals.
Sunny skies.
A rainbow.

But the real ark was massive.

And one detail about it is really standing out to me:

There was no steering wheel.

No sail.
No rudder.
No way for Noah to control where the ark went once the storm started.

Think about that.

Noah spent years building something enormous before he ever saw rain, and when the storm finally came, the entire journey still required trust.

I think that’s the part of faith a lot of us struggle with most and maybe even more so right now.

We want answers.
A plan.
Control.
A clear explanation of what God is doing.

But sometimes faith looks like continuing to trust God before everything makes sense.

Not because uncertainty feels good.

Not because the storm is easy.

But because God can still be trusted even when life feels unclear.

And maybe some of the hardest seasons of faith are the ones where we realize we were never the ones steering in the first place.

Life can feel a little like a storm sometimes.

Stress.
Fear.
Uncertainty.
Pressure.
Disappointment.
Trying to hold everything together while still trusting God in the middle of it.

Tonight, we’re talking about Acts 28 and what it looks like to not give up on God even when life feels difficult or uncertain.

What helped Paul stay calm when everyone else panicked?
What does trusting God actually look like in everyday life?
And how do we hold onto gratitude while we’re still in the middle of hard situations?

Memorial Day is strange in a way.

For some people, it means cookouts, time off, and being with family.

For others, it is a reminder of someone missing from the table.

Scripture tells us to “mourn with those who mourn.” (Romans 12:15)

So today, we remember that this day carries more than celebration.
It carries sacrifice.
Loss.
Gratitude.
And the weight of lives given in service to others.

A reminder that sacrifice is not just a word we throw around.
It costs something.

Today we honor the men and women who gave their lives serving this country, and we remember the families who continue carrying that loss long after the flags are folded and ceremonies are over.

May we never take lightly the freedoms and everyday moments we so easily grow used to.

Today we remember. 🇺🇸

Tomorrow is going to look a little different.

After church, all 6th–12th graders are invited to the Student Center for lunch, small groups, and time together as we process some disappointing and unexpected news as a ministry.

We’ll spend time talking honestly about disappointment, hope, and where God meets us in difficult seasons while looking at John 16:33 and 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 together.

There will also be space to encourage and support Sean and Andy, including a chance to write messages for them as well.

Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided.

No matter what emotions this week has brought up, we hope you know you do not have to walk through them alone 🧡

A lot of us assume conversations about faith are dead before they even begin.

Like nobody cares.
Nobody is interested.
Nobody is open.

But maybe that assumption says more about our fear than reality.

Because according to research from , 59% of teenagers with no religious affiliation may still be open to faith.

Open.

Not certain.
Not convinced.
Not ready to lead a Bible study tomorrow.

But open.

And that matters.

Because sometimes we talk ourselves out of conversations before they even happen.

We assume rejection.
We assume awkwardness.
We assume people are completely closed off.

Meanwhile, there are people around us carrying questions, loneliness, curiosity, fear, doubt, and a desire for something more.

Not everybody is looking for an argument.

A lot of people are just looking for hope.

Sharing your faith is not meant to be about forcing conversations or winning debates.

It is about loving people enough to notice them.

To listen.

To ask questions.

To care.

To be willing to talk about what Jesus has done in your life when the opportunity comes.

People may be more open than you think.

Talking about your faith can feel intimidating.

Not because we don’t care about Jesus, but because we are scared of saying the wrong thing, not having the answers, or making the conversation awkward.

That’s why tonight is going to be a little different.

Some of our youth leaders are sitting down for an honest conversation about witnessing. The good moments, the awkward moments, the times they completely fell flat, and what they’ve learned through all of it.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions too.

Sean’s leading worship, and we really think tonight’s conversation is going to help a lot of us feel less alone in this.

Over the past several years, Cuba has faced a growing humanitarian crisis caused by severe economic decline, food shortages, supply chain issues, and limited access to basic medicine and nutrition.

The country’s economy has reportedly declined more than 10% since 2019, with some reports estimating that nearly 90% of the population now lives in poverty. Many families are also dealing with frequent blackouts, fuel shortages, and limited access to everyday essentials.

Things that many of us rarely think twice about buying like:
• powdered milk for children
• basic vitamins
• canned protein

can be difficult to find or extremely expensive compared to average income.

And while every country experiences economic hardship differently, the reality in Cuba has left many families relying heavily on outside aid and donations for everyday needs.

As followers of Jesus, caring about people should never stop at our own neighborhood or country border.

This month, we have the opportunity to help in a tangible way by collecting emergency supplies for families in Cuba.

If you’d like to be part of it, bring donations with you on Wednesday nights before May 31 🧡

This Wednesday is going to look a little different.

Instead of our normal Wednesday night plans, we’re joining the Next Steps class for a Worship & Discernment Night in the Student Center.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been talking a lot about witnessing, faith, and listening to where God is leading us. Honestly, this night connects really well with all of that.

There’ll be worship, time to slow down, space to reflect, and an opportunity for prayer toward the end of the night too.

And whether you’re someone who loves worship nights or someone who normally feels unsure about them, we really want this to feel welcoming and meaningful for everyone.

Looking forward to this one 🤍

A lot of us stay silent about our faith not because we don’t care, but because we feel unqualified.

Like we need every answer.
Perfect wording.
A response ready for every difficult question.

And honestly, I get that.

Because rejection feels personal.
Even when the conversation is about Jesus.

Some people really do react badly to conversations about faith.
Jesus literally warned us about that.

But somewhere along the way, a lot of us started believing witnessing is about being impressive.

Like if we are smart enough...
prepared enough...
confident enough...

then maybe people will listen.

But our knowledge doesn’t save people.

Jesus does.

Witnessing was never supposed to be about winning arguments or always having the perfect response ready.

It is about pointing people toward grace.

And honestly, some of the most meaningful conversations about faith start with:
“I don’t know.”

That does not make your faith weak.

It makes you honest.

Faith is not having every answer.
Faith is trusting God enough to speak anyway.

You do not need perfect words to point people toward Jesus.

You just need honesty,
humility,
and faith.

Moms do a lot that most people never really notice.

The rides.
The reminders.
The worrying.
The checking in.
The staying up late waiting for you to get home.

The constant little things that can feel normal until you stop and realize how much love is actually behind them.

And most of the time, they do it without asking for attention or recognition.

So today is a good reminder not to take that for granted.

Not every relationship with a mom is simple, and we know today can feel different for everyone. But for the women who have cared for us, prayed for us, encouraged us, and kept showing up even on hard days… we are thankful.

Happy Mother’s Day 🤍
