Over the Edge is an organization that helps non-profits fundraise in a unique way: repelling buildings, in this case the Tiger Hotel.
Love Columbia (formerly Love Inc.) is benefitting from this year's Over the Edge and is an organization that the Missions team partners with. Each edger has to raise $1000 in order to go Over the Edge. If they don't? They've still raised funds for a wonderful community resource.

Love Columbia is a coordinated network of care, relationships, and resources for our neighbors in need to help them move out of poverty. They listen without judgment to peopleโ€™s stories, help them address challenges, and partner to find hope. They receive, organize, and provide resources to meet informational, relational, material and spiritual needs.

Join us this Sunday, November 22nd for a $5 Sunday as we wrap up mission month. The mission team is asking anyone who wants to participate to bring a $5 offering to help our family assistance ministry provide gift cards to families in need this Christmas. We are excited to see what we can accomplish when we all work together. There will be boxes available for offerings on Sunday at church and giving can also be done online http://memorialbaptist.org/give. Just indicate that it is for $5 Sunday in the comments section when you give.

Melody Grayson approached the mission team with a wonderful idea to support Benton Elementary, our partner in education, during COVID-19 by providing students with activity bags to use while school is closed. The mission team was able to assist with funding and several members helped put together 138 bags. These bags were filled with coloring books, activity books, bubbles, chalk, stickers, markers, notepads, jump ropes, chapter books, book marks, playdough, card games, erasers, pencils, fossil in sand activity, color by number and other miscellaneous supplies to hand out to kids. Some of these bags were delivered directly to students through partnering with some of the teachers and others will be handed out on the first day of school. Thank you to Melody for her leadership on this project and thank you to all who support missions at Memorial. Your support made it possible for Memorial to show Godโ€™s love to our neighbors at Benton in a real and tangible way.

We received updates from Buckner in Peru about the crisis there due to COVID-19. The community has been on a lengthy lockdown and only a few of the families Buckner serves qualified for the limited available government assistance. Food and basic supplies have been very hard to come by. Buckner has been providing water and food as well as virtual coaching and support to many families in need. Through Memorial Missions, we were able to provide financial support to assist with the needs of 10 families for 3 months.

Ways you can continue to support Buckner in Peru:

If you would like to donate to continued financial needs in Peru, visit Buckner.org/donate. In the Direct My Gift dropdown window, select โ€œotherโ€ and type in โ€œPeru Client Assistanceโ€

The mission team wanted to make sure you know the ways in which Memorial is continuing to engage in missions locally and around the world during COVID-19:

Expecting increased needs in our community with COVID-19, we increased our monthly giving to Love INC as they are such an important partner in helping our most vulnerable neighbors. We will continue communication with them about ways we might be a part of meeting needs in our community. Since COVID-19 started they have assisted over 30 newly homeless families in finding a place to stay along with meeting many other needs.

Ways you can help:
โ€ข Join Project 100: Love INC is looking for 100 supporters to give $100 a month to provide a reliable stream of money to support ongoing needs.
โ€ข Donate money (any amount helps!)
โ€ข Contact Love INC to see what items they might need most (toilet paper, cleaning supplies, food, etc)
โ€ข Contact Love INC to see how a gift of your time might be helpful (moving a family into a stable place to live, job or budget coaching virtually, etc)
โ€ข Donate a gift card for somewhere such as Walmart or gas station
โ€ข Consider supporting one of their other ministries: Love Coffee provides employment to people with employment barriers. Make a financial donation or stop by and order something to eat!
