Salkehatchie UMCSC Salkehatchie is a summer mission project that focuses on home improvement in the state of South Carolina. Salkehatchie is faith in action.

From Saturday to Saturday, volunteers experience more than just a week of hard work. Their dedication and love help families feel comfortable and secure in their homes. By the numbers:
200 homes updated every summer by volunteers

63,000 campers have participated over the past 40 years

$1 million spent on construction and other supplies each summer

6,000 families helped since Salkehatchie began

Winyah Bay, Sumter, and New Hope all had a wonderful spirit-filled week last week. Union, Catawba, and Penn Center are in the home stretch and we cannot wait to hear how camp has been for all of them!

The founder of Salkehatchie, Rev. John Culp, received his doctorate in humanities from Wofford College over the weekend!

The new Rev. Dr. John Culp said, “I want to thank all the Salkehatchie participants since 1978 for helping me get this honor from Wofford College.” He says that without every single one of you, this would never have been possible.

We are so proud of you, John, and thank you for this special program that you started 47 years ago.

I know you are all anxiously awaiting the plans for Salkehatchie Summer 2022. After a lot of prayerful consideration, here is the information for the upcoming summer:

-Camp fee remains at 250.00
- Registration opens on March 1, 2022
-Only 14 camps will open this year.
-Reminder….. if you are 18 years old or older, you will need to get a background check through Smart Track. Only good for 3 years. Last camps were in 2019.
