Faith cannot be exercised without resistance (Tribulations and trials).
Before praying every trial away, we should ask,
“Is this a trial God has prepared me to go through, or is it something that needs to move?”
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him.
Our trials are not the joy. We count them as joy because the testing of our faith produces patience, and patience is working to make us complete and entire, lacking nothing.
We say we want more of His presence.
But how much of His process are we willing to endure?
Correctly exercised faith does not run from the trial.
It keeps its eyes on Jesus and lets patience have her perfect (complete) work.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
James 1:2-4 (NKJV)
